And the SEC tournament suckage begins.

I'm kind of glad. At least this means we might play Xavier. Didn't really love playing either Illini or Texas.

When you hype up a league all year long that no other conference is even close, this is what happens. There was carnage last year other than a couple of the best teams. And I think that was the case the year before as well.

Of course, I'm still SEC heavy on my bracket because I can't help myself :)

I fully expect SEC trans to struggle playing actual basketball when the refs have been allowing league play to resemble mid-2000s Big East gridiron round ball.

Based on seeding what is their expected record? What conference will do better?
To the final four:
Auburn 4-0
Texas A&M 2-1
Ole Miss 1-1
Florida 4-0
Oklahoma 0-1
Missouri 1-1
Arkansas 0-1
Miss St 1-1
Vanderbilt 0-1
Alabama 3-1
Georgia 0-1
Kentucky 2-1
Tennessee 3-1
Texas 0-1

Totals 21-12
If you add in the overall seeding for the FF games that would be an additional 2-1.

I'll honestly be shocked if the SEC winds up much above .500.
I don't know what conference will do better. I think the SEC was absolutely the strongest conference this year, as their OOC record shows. Problem is, it never seems to translate to March - and I think a lot of it has to do with the non-SEC whistle.

Apparently not. It surprises me a little that they’re acting after only 2 years if that’s true, but I do think it’s the right move for them. They kind of felt forced to hire him full time after the team made an Elite 8 with him as interim coach, but his track record at Fresno State and UTEP would have never even whiffed a P5 job otherwise. They should be able to do better with all the resources they have.
That was fast. Texas will make another mistake if they hire Sean Miller. If I’m that AD, I call Will Wade and see if there is any chance he wants to come to Austin instead of Raleigh. It’s been done before:
2007- Dana Altman left Creighton for Arkansas and went back 24 hours later
2007- Billy Donovan returned to Florida a few days after accepting the Orlando Magic job
2016- Chris Beard left UNLV a few days after taking that job to return to Texas Tech

All I’m thinking is if they are really going to call a very clean tournament then it sure does bode well for us.
I thought the refs may call more fouls in NCAA tourney, but early in TX/XAV game I saw several obvious fouls not called. I’m not sure.

Did you see those shoves at the end of the game by Texas? Those wouldn't have been called in league play. Tournament is going to be a wakeup call for a lot of teams and I'm hoping it helps us.

What a surprise! Texas was a 3.5 point underdog and lost. I've never seen anything like it.

That was a home game for Xavier. And it was the 14th best SEC team.
Not only a home game for Xavier playing the 14th SEC team to get in. But playing a SEC team that so underperformed this season that they are getting ready to fire their coach.

Good call OP. Record setting sweet 16 teams and somehow exceeding expectations that were absurdly high sure seems like suckage to me

Of course we get to be in the first SEC on SEC crime in the tournament.
