I don’t think K was actually interested in the WVU job, but Franklin thought it was important to practice interview for a better HC job after next season.

JoePa did this regularly with many of his deserving assistants.

I'm sure he was more than interested, guys never had a head coaching gig yet, if PSU weren't in the playoffs he'd be there no imo.

How does his interview process even start without the disclaimer up front... "If we offer you the job you'd have to start right away... is that going to be a problem"?

That's what the WV people were saying, supposedly AK had more than one interview with them.

The only thing I can think of is that Coach K was not high on their list kind of a back up option. WVU had their sights set on a certain few. Coach K came in and really impressed them during the interview. Suddenly he starts rising to the top WVU basically lets him know they want him and he needs to start immediately and Coach K says he has committed to PSU for the entire season whenever that ends. WVU says we want you now and don't want to lose out on good players in the transfer portal while your coaching PSU. WVU says you need to make a choice now, Coach K walks saying I committed to PSU for the entire year.

That sounds entirely possible... or, the WVU hater in me would like to think this whole process was a way for us to eff with them
