Announcers tonight

One bright side - the announcers tonight for BTN (Brandon Gaudin (sp?) and Robbie Hummel) are pretty good. They were well prepared with background info about our players and how they have been playing going into the game, and have had solid and balanced analysis during the game IMO. Good call of the game on the PxP too - I’m biased and a bit partial to Revsine but outside of him I think this guy is next best or maybe even on par. Since usually we just complain about the announcers, I thought it was worth commenting when a pair does well and exceeds the bar that we usually see from others on BTN (or other channels).

I like these guys, too. Hummel calling our school "Nor'western" has kinda grown on me.

Hummel is really, really good. Did a real nice job describing defensive sequences and individual efforts — definitely a few steps beyond “nice look” that you usually hear.

Crispin is uniquely talented at relating every bit of on-court action to his decidedly mediocre college playing career. He sucks. I think he’s in espn world somewhere now.

Gaudin was the Butler play by play on the radio when I was there. His ascendancy his been remarkable.

I didn’t know him personally as he was a couple years ahead of me as a student, but I’ve only heard good things about him as a guy in addition to his announcing prowess.

Ha I think the last time I posted a thread here about one of the announcers it was to say that I find Crispin to be annoying.

Crispin seemed like he learned from the Dan Dakich “be brash and loud”, without as much insight to offset the annoyance.

Dakich is by far the worst. Diarrhea of the mouth. Can't stand him. And he used to be decent.
