I really didn't think it was possible for Scott to have that awful a record in 3 years. The Dabo coaching tree is currently wilting.

He beat one D1 team in 3 seasons. ONE.

He started with a bang at Blythewood High. I always assumed he would make a competent college head coach one day. Guess not.

I didn’t know Brad had a son. I was a kid when he coached here at USC. I remember disliking him more and more the more that his teams lost. Afterwards, when he started coaching for Clemson it was the cringiest thing ever. What a stooge.

Don't think Blythewood is paying $2.4 million a year, though.
Absolutely not, but I'll guarantee you the top high school coaches in this state will never have to beg for bread. They reside in perhaps the 90th percentile-plus of income in S.C. and will retire at that same lofty level of security.

No doubt. Any current high school coaches former college coaches? I remember Chuck Ready coached at Goose Creek for over a decade.

I think he did a great job at Clemson when he was OC or co-OC. He is a great recruiter also. He will likely have plenty of offers. If we look to hire another OC( I said IF!) we should look at him. He was QB at Hammond wasn’t he? Father may not let him come back to Columbia even if he wanted to though. Dabo may try to get him back up there though just guessing.

There have been rumors for many years that he hated USC more than his dad did. If true, then that would be a non-starter.

It’s the same reason no one ever came after Dabo. Dabo didn’t make the coaches, they made him. Seriously, no one wanted Dabo when he started having success. Also, Dabo would never go to a place where he had conference competition. He is safe in the ACC …but he maximized his opportunity so it worked for him.

His dad ran us into the ground ala Muschamp……they can be mad at themselves. How about thank you USC for making Brad a head coach and a rich man. A little gratitude is in order from Brad and Jeff. Jeff was able to attend a nice private school thanks to SC.

Agree.....and I believe Brad told the university to come and pick up its car at Clemson.

This seems backwards to me. If these coaches made Dabo, they should be succeeding without him.

The fact that they're floundering means more credit would go to Dabo and less to them, right?

And was making north of $100 k then. There's a guy down in Berkeley County pulling down more than $130k now, and he doesn't even have to teach two periods of Health 😁. Knotts is up around $116k. This list was published in the State several weeks ago. Most of the people were not ADs at the schools.

He has 2 sons. The other one is a doctor in Michigan. I didn’t realize Papa Scott had gone to South Florida with Jeff.

Funny how former Clemson coaches aren't so successful without those Clemson's "resources".

“That’s why football is so successful, is if you do it and use resources at Clemson, like you can really keep everything tight" - Steve Smith, former Clemson assistant basketball coach on FBI recording

Mother got in on the act too so it was a family thing. Can't remember the details but seems like she vented her hostility toward anything USC in an incident. Just can't remember the details. The danny lovers ran off a good coach who had a good record but wasn't old tobacco chewing danny. Ken Hatfield was greeted with such hostility old Frank had to come out to the sidewalk to calm down the danny lovers. It was an ugly scene and Hatfield should have walked that dd ay. No way he was gonna come out good.

I think those Danny lovers were right though, didn't Hatfield oversee a pretty bad decline?

But yeah, ancient history for the Scott's.

Nope….some coaches are coordinators….but ego makes them want to be a head coach when they shouldn’t. We can’t argue it both ways. Our “realists” love to point to Dabo gaining his success by firing people and hiring great coordinators. They want Shane to do the same. Dabo didn’t teach those coordinators how to be good head coaches. You are seeing that right now.

That makes sense. Dabo is terrible, he's only good because of his assistants. But his assistants stink, and are only good because of Dabo.

I pick one of those, but I have a hard time arguing both.

I find it hard to believe Clemson won 2 national titles with a coach who stinks, coordinators who stink, and recruiting classes (bought with those "resources") lower than the team they beat both times.

But I guess saying "they cheated" somehow makes us feel better.

Edit: I also think the advent of NIL has only intensified that "resource" management.

Who said their coordinators stunk? We said they are crappy head coaches

Yep. They're hired as contractors or consultants, not as teachers.

Well, you have another coach in the same athletic department on tape with the FBI telling you exactly how they did it, but whatever.

This was addressed in the post you quoted. I'll highlight it in case you really did just miss it.

And I guess you don't find it " hard to believe" that maybe this Clem recruit's aunt really let him take several thousands dollars to throw around in the gym too. Or something like that. LOL
