Cincy also offered QB Gunnar Hoak, our incoming QB recruit. So obviously Gran thought Hoak would be a good fit for his offense which is very important to our future making sure everyone is on the same page. AND Darin Hinshaw was Hoak's main recruiter so I hope we can find a way to get him on staff. A program like UK really needs a QB coach.

Gran isn't a QB coach, so I feel like Hinshaw will definitely get an offer for the opening if Gran is hired onto the staff.

My guess is now we will go without a special teams and a quarterback coach... Think about it there is no room

I can see bringing in Gran as OC with Hinshaw getting offered a passing game coordinator title.

If Walt Bell is the guy, he already is a QB coach... As has already been mentioned, Gran isn't.

We would have to get rid of and not replace another position coach for that to happen. As others have said, I believe Hinshaw gets the OC job at UC if, in fact, Gran is the man here.

IF Gran comes in, UK is going to have to replace another position coach anyway. Gran does not coach QB's, nor has he (to my knowledge). UK will need somebody to coach QB's, therefore at least 1 more position is going to almost have to open up, IF Gran is the guy.

Gran has coached RB's mostly, but he played WR & he has coached that spot a few years. Hinshaw is a QB coach & he played the position. If he was give the title of PGC, he could still coach QB's.

Gran Has proven himself over the years at several stops and coaching different positions. He is a great recruiter. He also has some contact with stoops at another school. Do not know if Stoops wants him, or, Gran would come here, but, if this played out for Us, would be a home run hire, plain & simple. we could up his pay at least $200,000.00 a year.

I wouldn't mind seeing Buh replaced with a QB coach. Eliot can coach LB and Buh didn't show me anything this yr anyway. A QB coach is way more important IMO too.

Gran as OC, Hinshaw as wide receiver and QB coach now that Mainord is out ? Not sure if he has any experience as QB coach, but Gran can guide him it seems.

Remove Chad Scott. Let Gran handle RBs, Hinshaw QBs, and hire a WRs coach. I'm sure this will invoke a lot of heated response, but remember this.... Dashawn Mobley rode the pine until finally given a chance against Georgia and Tenn where he ran the ball down their throats! I remember the post game interview with Neal Brown when he said Chad Scott was responsible for RB personnel decisions, and to me Dyshawn Mobley was completely overlooked for whatever reason. He might recruit well, but I don't think we lose anything with Gran taking over his duties.

IMO, not a good situation. I think UK has suffered from not having a true QB coach. (I know Dawson was supposed to have some background there.) I recall Towles went to an independent QB camp to get some "higher level" QB coaching. In the best of all worlds your OC is your QB coach and your HC is the ST coach.

On that latter point since STs involve players from all over the roster typically not much gets done in other position work when STs are practicing. If the HC is active with the STs that places an implicit importance on that aspect of the game. All, of course, JMO.

Peace

I think Gran has coached most positions we have mentioned at one time or another somewhere.
He may be asked to be the quarterback or wide receiver coach as well as offensive coordinator.
While I would like a special coach at each position, I thing wearing more than one hat is the norm rather than the exception unless you are on the Bama/ OSU/ Florida scale.

lol.....he has also been a special teams coach at one time.
