Overall I really liked the book. Felt they could have stretched the ending out a bit more. Looking forward to the movie as well. Guessing we get less of the science part though, but thought that was a cool part of the book.

I think people have lost interest in that franchise (loved the books though).

First book was good, next two never really went anywhere. Not sure how to make compelling movies based on the books. Then again didn't think they could do anything out of the 50 shades books either but that didn't stop them.

Technically, the Kate Mara version was a remake of the Scandinavian film trilogy made a couple of years earlier. I thought most people have already had seen the original films from Netflix or on cable, but clearly I was mistaken after reading this thread.

I heard there were contract issues with some of the parties involved that led to its demise. The books were far superior to anything like The Hunger Games or any of the other crap they've made into movies. I was pretty disappointed because I thought they did a really good job with the 1st movie. I also only watched the 1st movie of the originals. I guess I ought to go watch the other 2.

A 4th Girl ... book is coming out soon. Authorized by Stieg Larsson's estate/family from partial manuscript. I doubt I'll read it. I thought all 3 books were good; the 2nd was easily the weakest.

I believe Rooney Mara was in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". Kate is her older sister and played the reporter in The House Of Cards on Netflix.
