Yep, an A-A freshman. And a top recruit decommitted. Don't see how MM can be kept on at this point. Which, is interesting, as Barnhart is seemingly pretty tight with Mitchell.

Where is Barnhart? His women's team is festering, his silence is deafening.

Who. Cares.

Lots of UK fans, ones that don't just follow the successful program, some that even care about UK academics (gasp) and winning the right way------or not at all.

In other words, screw BP and Transfer U, not to mention TU.

Oops, sorry, I digressed from the digression.

Go back to DA's baseball thread. the old saying is squeaky wheel gets the grease......with UK athletics the squeaky revenue sport gets the AD's attention. And that is only if the fans stop giving that sport the revenue!

So whatever turmoil is going on with women's BBall will be ignored & he will continue to be employed & cash massive checks & have no media or fans demanding to know what the hell is going on. Just like UK baseball will have no questions as to why it has yet to appear at a single College Baseball World Series under Barnhart's 'leadership'.

still amazing that Mitch thought this same attention & leadership would be just fine directed towards UK football under Joker. Why bother, just let Joker do his best as head coach, fans wont demand better than 7-5 or 6-6, don't do the hard work to improve facilities keep them the same as CM Newton built in the late 1990's? so sad that it took the team going 2-10 and being rolled 40-0 by Vandy in front of 5,000 fans to get Mitch to change tactics.

Has to be something amiss. If mm that difficult to play/work for he should go. NOW. This is enough. Way overpaid anyway!

The immediate season for UK women's hoops looks pretty bleak...but to be fair..Mitchell has had UK women's hoops performing at a way higher scale in terms of wins and tournament runs. So he has performed better than past UK hoops teams...not that I really care either way since I've watched maybe 2 women's games since Mitchell has been at UK.

I've watched a lot of them. Epp's daughter is quite a basketball player.

UConn's dynasty is on the verge of setting women's basketball back a long way though, everyone else is playing for second place now. Makes me afraid of what is happening in football.

Im kind of an all sports guy too. The sport that PUZZLES me is baseball. Our state and natural recruiting area is LOADED with talent and I mean big time talent. Throw in the history of baseball and KY (mainly Louisville but that is Louisville, KY). It just pains me to see us continue to waddle along. When everything we need is seemingly at our disposal (talent base, good conf foes, and a fanbase that would follow a consistent winner. We dont have to be a constant title contender but we can be just as good as Louisville and I think the fans would be happy. I think baseball can be a profit maker in due time. Our fans are a very proud bunch you give em some WS appearances and they will fill it up.

I disagree with this...if you coached youth sports for even five minutes you have to marvel at the precision that UConn plays with at every position on the court. Their cutting in the halfcourt is precise, their spacing is exceptional, the timing of their screening is on point and each of the five positions on the floor keeps constant pressure on the defense with quick ball movement and ball reversal, and they are constantly knocking down shots from 15-18 feet that are virtually unguarded as a result. Defensively they don't foul, and it's less due to supreme talent as it is good footwork. Auriemma is a world class ***, but whatever he does in practice and preparation could be a model for any level of basketball.

I agree with almost everything you post Jauk, but I can't on this. UConn is on a great run, but it is no better than UCLA had back in the day. That run didn't destroy men's basketball, it forced everyone else to get better and they did. Not long ago, the SEC dominated women's basketball led by UT who won quite a few championships alone the way and usually played another SEC team for the title or in the semi's at least. That didn't make other conference quit women's basketball, it made them get better to compete and eventually pass the SEC's women's teams. You don't have to like dynasties, but you have to respect them and if you want to stop them you have to get better. Like all others it will eventually fall too.

Someone answer me this... Where does the money come from to susidize WB-ball and Mens baseball... ?
I think I remember reading that basketball pretty much eats up all it's own profit... If this is true and considering that none of the other UK sports make a profit that leaves football as the finacier of quite a few athletics teams??? I realize there is profit sharing aplenty from TV/SEC and this helps but sure seems UK has gotten poor return on it investments across the board... A guy like Matt Mitchell has to be at the top of the pay scale for a women B-ball coach... We're paying Corordinators half what Mitchell gets and they share the responsibility of helping pay the way for other sports... Just seems odd as hell to me.

Just listened to him on KSR and basically he said ...nothing to see here... we're moving this program in the right direction.... trust me I'm the coach and can see where we've been and where we're going... sometimes to move forward you take two steps back... None of that shiz is a quote but it is an example of the aura around the conversation... That's what I got out of it... But sure not hearing anything from the guy that jacked his pay to $1,000,000 ... Guessing the Joker fiasco was like touching a hot stove...

Gotta agree with this. If you are actually trying to teach the game (boys are girls) you will not find a more fundamentally sound exhibit than the UCONN women.

We would still have Billy Clyde if he were smart enough to befriend Barnhart...
