It doesn't matter......except that his name isn't Robinson.

Not my fault that his parents don't know how to spell, but congratulations for deciphering to whom I was referring.

Next time I see a little news tidbit, I'll refrain from posting it for fear of offending the spelling police. It's far from me to want to muddy up this lively message board.

By the way, I played Ford Frick in our local community theatre version of the classic plus sang in a lot of the numbers; great fun

Just a guess by me: this may mean Austin gets redshirted while Murray plays 2nd string.
I don't recall very many times during Stoops' years that a 3rd string QB ever saw much playing time and I do not believe Riley will change things....and of course, there's the fact that several games will be decided in the 4th quarter, thereby eliminating playing time for 3rd team QB's and most reserves in general.

Evidently the rumors are flying. My newphew in OKC just texted me that he heard he got popped for public intox. That cannot be right, can it? Unless it was # 2 for him.

Just my uneducated opinion, but don't think Austin is out of the race for #2 yet, and he did look pretty salty in his limited time last year.

I know the hype train for Kyler Murray has long left the station, I wouldn't be shocked to see Austin as the official #2. I don't think we see a guy play backup, then get redshirted as a sophomore.

Just a hunch.

If it was public intox we would have heard about it from the media. Public record is just that....publicity abound. This would seem to be something internal and pretty severe. I'm surprised it has not been leaked by other players before now.

Given Robison's great potential, his misdeed must have been pretty serious or Riley's level of tolerance is lower than his predecessor.

More serious than a PI, most likely, but he put himself on short leash early, and in a program that needed to make a statement by the new, incredibly young head coach.

I think he was the "victim" of his own poor choices, coupled with untimely choosing to make those poor choices.

Regardless of all the hypotheticals, I think it is a wise move on Lincoln's part. No reason to get Old Testament, but a handful of metaphorical public linchings could go a long way.

And I don't have any more information than anyone else, but to your point of playing backup as a tru freshman, then redshirting the next year -
He was the backup last year by default. OU only had two eligible scholarship QBs on the team. Let him play as a true frosh, with intentions of redshirting his second year, because you know that Murray becomes eligible that year.

Nah, not more serious than a PI in the grand scheme of things.

When a bull manages to escape the simple fenced area and thinks he's free to do as he pleases, you put the electric fence up as an additional deterrent. When the bull ignores the electric fence and leaves the designated area again, it's time to shoot the bull before he does actual damage.

Far out! I've never thought about it like that. I like it and will write it down so I can use it myself.

The decision to dismiss might have had something to do with the kid's attitude towards his first offense. Or his general attitude between then and now. If he lacked remorse or a willingness to admit his mistake and get fully back in step then the second offense was the death blow.

Or the second offense(s) was just like the first offense minus the arrest, repeated several times until he was found out because of stupid behavior. Sometimes a program is larger than the individual. And sometimes you have to shoot the bull.

He said he couldn't be in Norman for the summer, then likely showed up, having not worked on his skills and being in shape this summer. To come up for practice, and be dismissed immediately, would indicate that he was given a short leash, but whatever he needed to do, when not "here" he failed to do.

He likely had the attitude that it wasn't important, since he was a very likely redshirt this year. But on a short leash, that won't cut it. So he was cut.
