Does that make only 6 returning scholarship players unless Hurt remains and DJ does not go?
If so we need 3 more players preferably 2 guards and a big. Hope after Sunday we need only 2

Good luck to Tape. Don't know if he was injured or just a bad fit but didn't give us what we needed this season.

Hopefully this means Williams is returning. We could have used Tape but probably only a few minutes a game. We can't even hold on to transfers ha. Wasn't counting on Tape or Goldwire back so if we can stop the transfer bleeding here we'll be okay. Any more and I might become concerned.

DJ going pro to play in the G league? He isnt getting drafted after last year averaging 13 points and 2 assist while shooting 42.6%. Plus he is 6'2 163 lbs.

Only person on this team who should like about going pro is Hurt. And thats because he has basically max out his potential at duke.

No shocker, wasnt really given a defined role or opportunity imo.

What little bit we saw of him led me to believe the ACC was a little too much for him. Couple that with his back issues and it is what it is. But, maybe that's me. Anyway, best of luck to the young fella.

Steward is at 35 on the latest NBA mock draft, so it's not exactly impossible. Williams is not listed.

Who? Did he even play? Just kidding . Always thought if anyone left it was definitely going to be him. Would be a lot of fun if Nate James went to Austin Peay and you saw a couple of Duke transfers end up there with him.

Tape was no loss at all. I think K did the right thing with available space. Flipped a coin, called heads, and it was tails. Need the roster space for someone who can actually help.

He put up good numbers against Big 10 schools. That and Williams looked raw. Like I said I was wrong.

With the way our offense was run this year, and the lack of minutes or cohesion of the season, its hardly surprising he wasn't a factor. The unknowns will always remain since he has chosen to move on.

After Jalen left we looked much better. Had that 3 game losing streak and then looked very good in the ACC tournament until covid ended the season once again. I think in a normal year this team would've been much more cohesive on both ends of the floor. It's been the older teams who have had more success for a reason.

probably the only player I wouldn’t care about leaving. Tape seemed like a great kid, but had no business being at duke. Will forever be upset the staff went after him instead of Sarr. Made no damn sense.

Most unforgettable movement was Tapes offensive rebound where he didn’t realize he had to put the ball up to get an and 1 and win the game and instead received two free throws. It was one of the last two ot losses that hit us

I’m no Marty Blake but I’m guessing he went to an Ivy League not power 5 for a reason and it’s not necessarily because he’s so damn smart although he might be brilliant. I’ve never met the cat

This is not a big deal. Nor is Goldwire leaving. In a normal year, those two would be expected to leave anyway

lol do you realize what a terrible position duke basketball is in right now?

we’ve got 7 guys coming back
Hurt, baker and Williams are all potentially gone as well.

we’ve got 2 verified guys coming in, if we don’t add to that it’ll be 9 guys. Can’t even run 5 on 5 .

with dukes problem of developing guys, allocation of minutes to guys expected to be here for one year and lack of bodies... the next two years will be brutal in terms of veteran players.

this can all be fixed in the upcoming weeks but duke basketball is not in a good place right now in my eyes. Can’t believe brakefield is leaving. Even so it’s ridiculous the boards reaction is “ with Griffin and paolo coming there isn’t much minutes”. Find this Guy some playing time, we need kids like him to stay.

I hear you but this year is different. Goldwire played starter minutes and still transferred.

What are you talking about hahaha? We aren’t in a bad position at all next year. Just like people are transferring out we will get players in. We’re getting Keels most likely so we don’t really care to lose Baker. He’s not really a Duke talent anyway. I highly doubt Williams leave but if he does we will most likely get a top big transfer. 2022-2023 is when we need to panic. Next year is no panic.

Yep. In recent history duke has not had an issue with putting enough talent on the floor. Just more about how they mesh. Not too worried yet. If more transfer or go pro there will be someone via transfer portal or high school to take their place. Sounds arrogant but we are a lucky fan base.

Only thing that has me looking a little side eye is not putting out offers for the 22 class. That’s really odd.

No one has hardly seen that class play plus who knows what K is thinking.
Why isn’t Baker a Duke talent? K was lead recruiter for him. So if he’s at Duke someone on the coaching staff saw the talent.

lmfao I love fast this post aged well especially with the “haha” Steward leaving is HUGE . I agree, Joey baker isn’t that necessary for success next year but you missed out on why he’s important... can you have a good basketball practice with 7-8 guys?Maybe in middle school but not at this level. We’re down to 8 scholarship players lol. You think the staff is going to find 5 high quality transfers and just mash them together? 😂. Oh and by the way hurts, baker and Williams still potentially may leave leaving the staff to scrounge for more players too. Hell if steward is leaving throw in Wendell as a possible early entry as well.

Keels is good but if you’re thinking he’s a guy that’s a zion , Barrett or bagley type of player you’re in for a rude awakening.

the staff has their work cut out for them next year. And the year after next looks DREADFUL
