Yet again, a freshman steps up to the plate in the Duke/UNC game. This seems to be a given every year, where a freshman comes in and makes an impact on this game. It's obvious that with the one and done era, this will be a foregone conclusion, but it's uncanny that almost every year it happens.
Some names that standout:

Austin Rivers
Brandon/Luke
Marvin Williams
Kendall Marshall
Ray Felton
Tyus Jones

Keep going. I wrote an article a few years ago about this. Who else you got?

Put Justise on that list, he saved us at CH last year when down in 2nd half.

Kennard was money on both ends last night. Made steal that got Grayson free to take lead.

Can they change that rule for freshman to have to stay 2 years before being eligible for the draft ? Imagine a lineup of Thornton, Tatum, Ingram, Giles, and Allen. Ingram may play himself into the first pick overall. Honestly I take Ingram over Simmons now, he has incredible heart. What the kid did the last 2 games was unreal.

He was so huge @Laettner.

In a loss in 2006-2007, one of our coaches from last night, Jon Scheyer drew powder blue blood with 26 points.

The year before that Josh McRoberts had a 17 & 5 stat line in his first game against the Heels.

They could but it wouldn't happen for 2 more years. That is when the current collective bargaining agreement expires. It has gained some legs within the players' union. There's a slim chance it happens. It would more than likely be "go immediately or college for 2 years".

Why wouldn't a team take Buddy Hield or Brice Johnson as the number one pick? Those guys are fully developed men that could step in and help a team now. Simmons and Ingram show great potential, and they may or may not have incredibly high ceilings--but they are more of a gamble. I just don't get the NBA, or the NBA draft.

It's a potential game in the draft. Think about it this way, and this is no slight to Buddy or Brice, but if you have a 19 year old kid who is just as or more talented than a 22 year old, you go younger and you deal with the consequences of your choice later. It either works out for you or it doesn't.

Hanstravel :(

It is quite unusual, but I guess this game just truly brings out the greatness in some individuals.

Who was the maroon who said Ingram was overrated, with a reputation built SOLELY on a good showing at the McDonald's AA game?
