Another worthless playoff. Ohio state vs Georgia for the national title. That’s all we need. Most years, there’s an obvious 2 teams. We need less teams in the playoff. Not more.

if Indiana comes back, I’ll happily eat crow. But of course, then all we need is Indiana vs Georgia. The playoff is dumb. Tech is the only team with an argument outside of the big ten and sec title winners.

It's hard for me to root for Texas Tech - a team bought by a billionaire.

It’s only going to get worse, the rich will get richer and the poor to average won’t improve, now if you’re a Iowa fan you’ll be perfectly happy

NU will be below Iowa again with Rhule as HC. Fly in a possible DC to blow the interview and he get hired somewhere else/ I wish we were at Iowa level. They actually play physical football. NU has 2 more years of terrible football until they pay another buyout

I love the post season. I think Bama just went out and now Miami and ND are both in.

Why do either of them deserve a shot? They had their chance. Couldn’t do it. If you can’t beat the third best team in the sec or SMU, you don’t deserve a shot at a title. The winner of the big ten and Georgia have separated themselves. On the field. Get rid of the fluff and let the two teams that earned it go at it.

explain to me how you were "made less whole", "damaged", or cheated out of your football viewing pleasure during this season.

I didnt think we needed a playoff to begin with, or keep the 4 team playoff. I have lots of ideas on how to improve it. One that wouldn't ever happen is the 1vs 2 at the end of the year and if there are any other undefeated or 1 loss teams we have a playoff otherwise 1 vs 2 would just play. But obviously wouldnt happen hence why i have other ideas,

Agree. Ive always been anti playoff. Most years there is a clear cut two teams. The “NFL-ization” of the college football is destroying what made it unique. And I would argue, great.

Where did I say that? Don’t bring a straw man to a discussion. Address what I said directly or don’t reply.
1. respectfully, i will reply or not reply as i please.
2. collegiate and professional sports is in the entertainment industry.

So tell me again how were you diminished your entertainment with an extended NCAA football season?

I remember several decades ago when people complained about Nebraska and a couple other big dogs always being in the hunt for a NC without a playoff.

I’ve never made such a claim. Hence your strawman.

But to play the game you’re proposing: the 12 team playoff dilutes the importance of big games. There is no denying that. We have 1 vs 2 playing right now and it’s merely an exhibition as both teams will get a playoff bye, as opposed to this being an elimination game for a national title shot vs Georgia. Does that answer the question you asked?

You do realize they said the same thing about Alabama vs whoever when nobody could beat them. It's cyclical in sports and it's been going on in college football for a long time it's just some times teams control the thrown a little longer, it's not unusual or out of the ordinary.

I consider college football to be like minor league baseball. Just not that compelling. I’m less interested each year.

Times changed. OSU won it all last year and smoked everyone and wouldn’t have had a shot in the old model. They were clearly the best team. That’s why this works. The debate is settled on the field.

is it written somewhere that its requisite for CCG's to be an "elimination game"?
You’re moving the goal posts. You asked where the playoff made the regular season worse. I made a clear, concise and sound argument and now you’re backpedaling. The playoff has rendered big games meaningless in terms of the national title race. We have 1 vs 2 a mere six weeks before the title game and the outcome has no bearing on the national champion. That is a clear downgrade from the pre playoff era in terms of the importance of the regular season and conference title games.

My argument is that the “changed times” is inferior to the previous pre playoff era. That’s it.

Dude, i havent moved any goal posts. i've asked you how the entertainment has been less. you said that that there shouldnt be more than a 2 team "playoff" because you think its obvious there are only 2 teams that are worthy or deserve to be there. i counter that with then perhaps dont watch the playoffs until the final game. perhaps you have moved the goal posts by changing your argument that the regular season is deluded ---i then asked you how exactly is is deluded in an entertainment paradigm. and now here we are--i'm enjoying the college football experience and you are not. enjoy the rest of the season.

You’re missing the point. Allowing 12 teams in dilutes the regular season. “Not watching” doesn’t fix that the playoff is ruining the regular season.
I just think you are wrong. After today, there was always just two teams who were allowed to win the national title. Now there are conceivably 12. And with NIL and transfers an injury or two and a team like Texas Tech or Indiana could be national champion. Money is going to win out but college football has never been about fair competition, it has always been a chaotic sport driven by inequality and arbitrary rules limited some teams and helping others, while everybody cheats, but the better cheaters win. Nebraska wasn't the best all time because they followed the rules. We all know that.

You’ve asked questions that I’ve never made claims against. If you want to argue things that are different than what I am eluding to then go argue with someone else. I made a specific point. If that’s not what you want to discuss, cool. Go respond to someone else.

Do you think that a playoff takes away from the big ten title game? If we had no playoff; this would be one of the most hyped games ever. As is, it’s a cool game but couldn’t even pull gameday because there’s no real national title impact happening in Indy right now

It didn’t pull game day because of conference/network contracts
