Any suggestions for visitors?
We'd like to set up our tailgating tent, enjoy some adult beverages and socialize with the UK faithful. Our group has been to a few SEC schools (UF, UT, USC) and have for the most part enjoyed our tailgating experiences. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!Check with UK. There a grass area off Alumni Drive next to the Orange Over Flow lot that UK had for Visitor Tailgate last year. There were a few games last year that visitors had big tailgates setup there.

In all honesty, it sucked. It wasn't so much the location of our tailgate (about 2 miles from the stadium) as the campus was packed, or the fact that the closest port-o-let was about a mile away or that it was 100 in the shade (we're fairly used to heat and humidity down here, especially by Labor Day weekend!), but that we had next to ZERO interaction with UF fans. Granted, we're not an SEC team, but the fans in Knoxville were incredibly friendly as were the folks in Columbia. To have the host team fans set up within 6 feet of us and not even respond to questions beyond yes/no and barely make eye contact, well it was disappointing. How was the UF tailgate ???

I park in a church lot in the neighborhood by the water tower. You walk about a mile to the stadium but you don't sit in traffic after the game. People tailgate there all the time.
Crestwood Christian on Bellefonte, the proceeds go to support the youth program.
Ok, now I don't feel like we were such pariahs!Just wondering because we had almost the same experience with the exception of a fight
That's why we make these trips, thanks! I'm looking forward to heading that direction in a little more than 145 hours! You'll love the folks in Lexington. You'll get some good natured teasing, but plenty of really great, hospitable folks. I for one welcome you to join my group outside gate 9.
That's it. I usually buy a season pass from them so I have a reserved spot.
UF is the UofL of the SEC...Ok, now I don't feel like we were such pariahs!
We were there in 2006, a year after Katrina rocked the region. As we were leaving the stadium after the game a student was standing above the exit ramp yelling at all the USM fans to go back to our FEMA trailers. What class.
well, don't forget to say hello to me as you walk to the game, I will be wearing blue and a UK cap. How could you miss me? :sunglasses:
Going there on the 10th for the first time and will let you know...hopefully we break the streak and they'll really be pissed:football::football::scream::sunglasses:UF is the UofL of the SEC...
UofL is incredibly hospitable and has excellent tailgaiting. Heck, a fair portion of season ticket holders are UK fans. No sense spreading falsehoods. Most visiting fans report an excellent experience. And UK fans in Louisville love tailgating there even if it's a non-UK game. Please don't give this poster inaccurate information.UF is the UofL of the SEC...
Thanks for the info. With game time @730, whats a good time to find a decent spot??Yeah for sure. None of the major parking lots will work as they require a pass, but if you go down nicholasville rd there are quite a few good spots that are free or pay to park. I like the semi-circle just off Nich. Rd. directly in front of the stadium. Really close to Cooper. Can't think of what it is called but you can't miss it.

I'd be there by noon or so if you want to guarantee yourself a spot. Thanks for the info. With game time @730, whats a good time to find a decent spot??
Welcome to Lexington! And yes, usually opening games are similar to sitting in the middle of an inferno. This sounds incredible!I'm not certain of our assigned location but Southern Miss will have a large tent set up for alumni and eagle club members. So that may be taking the spot where the poster above has mentioned as a suggestion. Generally the host school provides us with a location near the stadium to provide a meal and host Southern Miss folks.
Since this is my first venture into the UK campus looking forward to the visit. The weather looks to be exceptional for the game at this time.

I don't know if you are serious or not, but to say that UofL fans are incredibly hospitable almost made me spit out my drink on the keyboard in front of me. Both times that I have been there for a UK game were the absolute worst experiences of my life. I was threatened, cursed, and had cups of beer thrown on our entire section. After the last experience, I swore that I would never go back.
By the way, I had my daughter with me the last time, and she was literally scared to death.
