Get a room at the Marriott Marquis on Times Square...have roses and a fine jewelry (new diamond or aqua marine) waiting for her in the room...tickets to a Broadway show...the theater at the Marriott is easy and it exits out to Sophia's (good Italian restaurant)...late dinner at Mickey Mantle's at Central Park where the horse drawn carriages wait for your romantic ride. You may want to save the jewelry for your return that evening to your room...then let the romance begin!

I usually plane well ahead for Valentines days, say 2/12
I remember the floral section at Wegmans filled with 20+ desperate guys sorting through whatever they could find on their way home from work on the 14th. They should have planned ahead like you.

Best Buy is running a sale on vacuum cleaners, Swiffer mops and Dust Vacs.

I am sure any of those gifts on Valentine's Day would bring quite a reaction from the wife!
