My parents have a second house in gatlinburg. It doesn't have cable or the internet, so any time there is a sporting event I am hesitant to go down there because it means I have to wade thru tennessee and alabama fans at the brewery, three jimmys, park grille or greenbriar to catch a game.

Would I be like that weirdo that splits the netflix tab with his dad if I offered to split the cost of an internet package with them? I can just watch anything I want on an xbox or chromecast so all i need is internet.

TIA.

Don't know much about eastern Tennessee cable TV tiers, but I wonder if it's cheaper to get a basic tv package or good enough to stream Internet?

Do they have DirecTV? If so, they could have DTV put a Dish on that house and have a box down there and keep it on just one bill. We do it and it works out really well.

Well hopefully you'll be the last generation living without running water or electricity. I'm glad you have a library nearby with which to share your stories with us, though. It's not everyday I get to talk to the Amish.

I seem to be lost, if this were really the Paddock, someone would have replied "13 homes .. and counting" by now.

Why not pay the whole cost for internet or TV service? Your parents are paying the cost of the cabin and I assume do not charge you rent to use it.

As someone already mentioned, step up and cover the bill for your parents. I doubt they are charging you for staying, and this might be a nice way of saying thank you for allowing the use of the cabin. It's probably only something like $1200 a year. You'd probably drop that in a weekend or two in Gatlinburg if you were having to cover your own cabin rental.

Don't forget to hit dad up for his share of Netflix.
