I hope he doesn't leave, but if he does, anyone out there you all think would be a good replacement? Any big names from some of the big schools that haven't been hired yet after their head coach left/was fired? Anyone we might be able to steal off of someone else's staff? Unlike the Special Team's coach position, I believe this position will be critical to fill as fast as possible with signing day approaching. I hope we don't lose any current commits or possible commits from a change. Hopefully he stays and continues the work he has been doing to help get us to the next level.

Whoever we get is most likely going to be a MAJOR step down from Marrow. The guy is responsible for bringing in 55.5% of the 4 star players (counting transfers) during the Stoops era at UK. Losing him would absolutely kill our recruiting momentum. And even worse, we would then have him recruiting against us for those prospects in Ohio that we covet. Such a scenario would be a tremendous setback for UK. In fact, it could just be the difference between Stoops succeeding or failing here. Yes, I think it is really that big a deal. We've gotta do everything in our power to keep him from going to Michigan, but some of the things being said today don't sound overly encouraging.

As to who we should go after, I think Ron Zook would be a good choice as special teams coordinator. The guy did a good job at that position for Spurrier at Florida. And he is a good recruiter with ties not only to Florida but also Ohio (where he is from) and Illinois. Getting him wouldn't make up for the loss of Marrow. But he would be a good get who could help us on the recruiting trail.

Then, I think you'd have to go after a TE coach that also has a very good reputation as a recruiter. Finding one that just happens to recruit Ohio well may be a problem, so you might just have to look at the best candidate available with recruiting ties to a talent rich area, be that Georgia, Florida or wherever.

That said, I really hope we can keep Marrow. Losing him would be a tremendous blow to our recruiting, and recruiting Ohio specifically. If that were to happen, I don't see us pulling in many more 4 stars from that state.

The man who is in charge of the household funds will be responsible when the family goes hungry.
He refused to spend in the past, and we see where our football program was. If he thinks he can only spend on facilities, and the head coach, he's mistaken. He needs to match Michigan stride for stride.

It would be Barnhart's fault if the deciding factor came down to money. Michigan is certainly an historical elite in college football. So if Marrow decides to go there based on tradition, reputation and Michigan being a big-time football school, there isn't much one can do about that. But if we allow an asbolute ace recruiter to get away just because we are too cheap to pay him what he is worth, then that falls squarely on the shoulders of Mitch. I could never forgive him for such a grand screw up.

But we don't know if Marrow decision is about money, we don't even know if he's leaving UK, I'd bet my house payment that he has been given a very nice offer from UK, if he goes it won't be over money.

he's been here 13 years and never gotten the team to a point you could call 'better' than the team he initially inherited. He's alienated a sizable portion of the fan base, to the point of mass defection so bad the school HAD to finally put some money into the program to at least provide the appearance of commitment. If one wants to believe there's now, after 13 years of treading water, a full commitment to winning SEC football here by all means go ahead. I'll wait until some wins are there before I'll buy in.

^^ He arrived and we were on probation. So, he's most certainly gotten the team to a better position than it was when he arrived. He's been here 13 years and we've ran a clean program during that period. That alone leaves us in a much better position than before he arrived. He could certainly be better but but he's not killed our program like many of you want to believe.

right, when he got here the team was on probation but the full effect not yet felt. That team went 7-5 but couldn't go to a bowl. That team went 3-5 (and a Gatorade soaked Morris play away from 4-4) in SEC. The team hasn't done anything meaningfully better since the AD's arrival. He's been a football meter non-mover. Clean is great, but you can do that w/o taking all that football generated SEC money. So ethically speaking, he ain't been that clean either.

I would go after the best recruiter available from Muschamps staff. They know Florida recruiting and most are probably still available.

Stoops would have different options.he could get a st coach like zook with connections to Ohio, then get a rc with connections in another football hotbed.
Or he could hire a HS coach with connections similar to marrow.
I'm thinking for the most part Michigan will go after bigger recruits like OSU and these recruits would be more of fallback guys.that's why we have had the success that we did,Meyer has really targeted ga,fl,am ect. I look for harbaugh to go national as well.having said this I would feel better if marrow stays.
But to be fair this staff has pulled a lot of good players from other areas.boom, maclain, tucker, randalof,so marrow would hurt but we still are doing better without him than I can ever remember..just a few thoughts..blast away.

Disregard. Glad we don't need a replacement. We just need the Special Team's Coach now. Hopefully they will help with the recruiting half as good as Marrow and we will be alright.

we don't need a special teams coach, what we do need is a punting coach or a more consistent punter.
