Lol at Arsenal putting a "Treble Winners" decal on their team bus meaning the Emirates Cup, Barclays Asia Trophy and the Community Shield.

As the season gets closer and closer the more I worry about Man City's defense. Kompany has struggled this preseason, Mangala has yet to show he is worth the price tag and Demichelis certainly isn't getting any younger. Really would feel better about a top 2 spot if we would have bought 1 maybe even 2 defenders this window.

I find things like that so interesting. I just simmed FIFA 15 Career Mode to 2025 (took forever) and looks like some of the top players in the world are Koke, Paco Alcacer. Adnan Januzai, Mauro Icardi and Manuel Neuer is still playing at 39 years old.

If you don't have much going on today Tottenham v AC Milan (3rd Place) & Real Madrid v Bayern Munich (Final) in the Audi Cup on ESPN 2.

Also Chelsea v Fiorentina on Fox Sports 1 in the ICC at 3.

I'm hoping Spurs can finish top 4 this season but I doubt it. They probably end up in sixth, or as I like to call it...Spursth.

My main criticism of Career Mode is the lack of ability to develop younger players. The "Youth Academy" feature is a joke w/ players threatening to leave a side like Chelsea if they aren't called up to the 1st team at age 16. Most players come in rated at the high 50s and low 60s with ridiculously low stats, such as speed being "40." Also hate that you can't readily offer players to other squads for loan. Instead, you have to put them on the "Loan" list and hope a team comes calling....which never really happens. Should have more power to reach out to clubs to offer players for loans/transfer.

I understand that the Ultimate Team and "Seasons" mode are the two focuses for EA Sports, but the Career Mode is in SERIOUS need of updates/upgrades.

Yeah there are a TON of little things on career mode that need smoothed out but I highly doubt they'll focus on them. Ultimate Team makes all the money.

One tip on youth players though. Sign them up if they have a high potential in the 90's the first month your scout finds them. On May 1st their rating should skyrocket and most will be rated 70-73 overall at 16 or 17 years of age. Just don't try to customize their gear though because most times that causes a weird glitch that makes the player turn 57 years old. (Really EA?) It drives me insane as well how often players say they're mad about not getting games and asking for transfers. Something I hope they work on for FIFA 16 but not counting on it sadly.

This will come as a delight to everyone. New leaked badge for the United States National Team to use starting in 2016. 10/10 could not be any better I love it!

Went to the FC game tonight. Cool environment. Will definitely go back. But man they looked AWFUL. Defense was nonexistent in the 1st. Free kicks and Corners were even worse. They have to be better than tonight. Can't be any worse. Painful.

Man, LCFC beat some really good teams on the road and got dominated by a mediocre Montreal team. Reminded me of the Red Bull 2 game a month or two ago.

Saw that LCFC score and wondered what happened. Beat them 2-0 back in June and it seemed like LCFC was playing great. I guess it just wasn't their night.

I watched Toronto - Orlando last night (forgot about the LCFC game). Giovinco is ridiculous right now.

That's too good. Well done. NY-NYC have the makings of a good rivalry.

I watched Chelsea-Swansea on Saturday and came away feeling better about Swansea. They played really well and were able to get a point on the road. Seemed to be aggressive and look to attack.

How about these stats from Montreal-DC United...

DC became the first MLS team to win with only one shot on goal for an entire game.

NYC v NYR has the makings of the best rivalry outside of Seattle v Portland. Red Bulls are my darkhorse pick to win MLS Cup this year.

Welp, Man City are top of the league!

A lot of people are going to be re-thinking their Arsenal title winners prediction if they don't improve that defense. Yikes!

- NBC retained the rights to the Premier League for the next 6 years. Now have it through the 2021-22 season. I think NBC does a really good job it's coverage of the league and being able to watch any game you want it is great.

- The UEFA Super Cup is today - at 2:45 Barcelona (Champions League) v Sevilla (Europa League). I don't much about Sevilla, but I would say Barcelona should win this game. It will be on Fox Sports 1.

I wouldn't say it was a lack of defense at all. It was two crazy uncharacteristic errors Cech made. They also didn't start Sanchez and Gibbs and their other RB are hurt. It was also weird how Arsenal played Cazorla out of position too. Honestly I'm glad we lost in a way. Last time this happened it put the pressure on Wenger to spend the money on Ozil. I think it's going to have the same effect of Benzema. I can't see him going to Man City...he still.will be #2 there to Aguero, maybe even #3 to even Yaya. The arsenal move just makes sense. I thi k this deal goes down almost at the end of the window...and if it does, Arsenal once their LB and RB get back healthy, Wilshire gets back and Sanchez is back at 100% will be a very solid team. They have just lacked anquality/clinical finisher. Benzema is that guy. Benz3ma and Ozil combined for the 2nd most goals via combo when they both were at Real Madrid and Benzema would compliment Giroud very well. We'll have to wait and see, but Arsenal will be fine...I give them props for not joining the "spend tons of money" club...just shows you Wenger gets the best out of his players to be able to stay top 4 without spending a ton of money year in and year out.

That's one ugly badge. They'll be easy to hate.

I've been waiting for a MLS team to expand closer to me......Louis-vul, Cincy, Nash-vul. But it looks like the USL has beat them to it with LC and now FCC.

That badge is poor marketing though. Just plain.

Maybe they more-so need a quality Defensive Midfielder to help out the back 4. Although Koscielny did allow a wide open run on that 1st goal. Yeah, Cech is just as much at fault though.

Yeah, Cincinnati FC got skewered yesterday for that video. I think they thought the 50 hardcore soccer fans in Cincinnati would be the only ones to see it.

- Hopefully if there is a group in Lexington that is trying to establish a pro soccer team they will have taken notes from FC Cincinnati on how NOT to do it.

- US Open Cup Final is set. Philadelphia beat Chicago 1-0 and Kansas City beat Salt Lake 3-1 last night. Philadelphia will host Kansas City on Sept 30th.

Kinda surprised there is no real TV coverage for this tournament. Games were streamed on YouTube and there is little marketing for the oldest tournament in the USA.

Louisville City beat what has to be the worst organization in the USL, if not all of professional soccer, in the Harrisburg City Islanders 5-1 tonight. Matt Fondy had 4 goals including a first half hat-trick.

I streamed the game last night and that place looked like a dump. Grass looked like it was cut with a brush mower. Team itself was all out sorts too.

I did watch during halftime and they interviewed the owner. He talked about how they want to make some upgrades on the stadium to get it to the "bare minimum" league standard. If they could get the money, place could be nice.

If you watched the game last night, that would be a vast improvement on what they have.

.

They've actually handled it VERY well. They have owners/management that came from the Reds/Bengals (Lindner/Berning). They hired a former president from the Columbus Crew. They hired a former US National Team member as coach. They've made deals with all the soccer bars in town. The coaches have been going from bar to bar promoting the team. They've worked with UC on games. The team is working with the ~55,000 local soccer kids to get them involved. The directors of the region’s four largest clubs (Cincinnati United, Kings Hammer, Ohio Elite and Total Futbol Academy) sit on the FC Cincinnati Advisory Board.

Clearly you have a severely uninformed opinion.

The video was obviously very poorly done. Not happy initially at the colors/crest but they've actually done a great job at PR. I honestly expect big things. It will be interesting how soon/where they can build a new stadium and how it works with UC this upcoming season.

The videos were good until the chanting part.

Yesterday the FC Cincy people basically said to some reporters that MLS is the end goal. If they can plop a stadium in OTR, West End or (God help us) Newport, it would be great.

Sounds like they're counting on relegation/promotion though, correct? I'm not sure if US fans will ever go for that. Personally I'd love to see it.

I'd be in favor of seeing relegation/promotion too. I don't think fans would be the problem, but that is something club owners might not like.

If MLS wants to keep expanding than get to 40 teams and have MLS I & MLS II. Heck even get to 60 teams and have MLS I, MLS II, and MLS III leagues.

If promotion/relegation was something that they really wanted couldn't the US Soccer Federation step in and organize it within the MLS, NASL, & USL?

I'd say the FC Cincinnati people are looking to go the Orlando route. Just be successful in USL and then move up via expansion.

Personally, I hate pro/rel. I hate it in Europe as it only affects clubs that suck the whole season and we know who the good teams are after week 1. It's practically killed a few teams in England and I'm glad it won't ever happen here.

The two main reasons why it won't happen here are. 1: Owners who invested in MLS with millions of $ won't want to see teams operating on the cheap moving up to the league and most importantly...2: TV won't go for it. Can you imagine the laughter from a Fox Sports executive when the MLS commissioner tells him that an LA or NY team could possibly be kicked out of the top league? American sports make their money from TV and that's why pro/rel will thankfully never happen here.

- Valid point about TV.

So since we are talking about PRO/REL here is an article about the NPSL wanting to merge with the NASL and have PRO/REL.

NPSL chairman Joe Barone wants NASL merger to bring about promotion and relegation in North America

"Joe Barone, the chairman of the National Premier Soccer League, has revealed he wants a merger with the NASL to kickstart promotion and relegation in North America.

North American Soccer League commissioner Bill Peterson said earlier this week that he would like to begin discussions between the two leagues to help build a pyramid system."

So the Bundesliga kicks off today in Germany - Bayern Munich host Hamburg at 2:30 (Fox Sports2)

A rare Premier League Friday game with Aston Villa hosting Manchester United at 2:45. (NBC Sports)

MLS tonight as well with San Jose hosting Colorado at 11 pm. (Univision)
