Anthracite is a hard, compact variety of coal that has a submetallic luster. It has the highest carbon content, the fewest impurities, and the highest calorific content of all types of coal except for graphite.

Use of the word Anthracite is clearly a nod to Kentucky's coal heritage, even though most of Ky coal can properly be classified as "bitumenous". I guess they had a fashion / marketing consultant help them create a fancy color name instead of "black" or "very dark gray".

I do like the color combo; now let's just win the damn game.:smiley:

Honestly, I would like to see the alternate logo on our helmets soon. The humping birds have really grown on me!
