Use of the word Anthracite is clearly a nod to Kentucky's coal heritage, even though most of Ky coal can properly be classified as "bitumenous". I guess they had a fashion / marketing consultant help them create a fancy color name instead of "black" or "very dark gray".Anthracite is a hard, compact variety of coal that has a submetallic luster. It has the highest carbon content, the fewest impurities, and the highest calorific content of all types of coal except for graphite.
