Anybody buying that Flagg is thinking of staying?

I think people underestimate the draw of these guys wanting to be rich, young adult men vs wealthy college students. These guys want to buy a house, be their own man, start thier lives. Screw living in dorms, and classes, and rules, and curfews etc. I know that would absolutely be a draw for me.

Very similar to most of us in our normal jobs. Let's say you're pretty comfortable financially but still working for the man (or even yourself). No problems, no debt, living pretty nicely, but to maintain that lifestyle you still need to work.

Then win a $100,000,000 lottery.

You ain't working anymore. I know I wouldn't.

Exactly. Idk what he's making on NIL, but it's nothing close to those numbers guaranteed. Flagg staying in school would be an extremely irresponsible financial decision.

With that reported Duke NIL black-consortium (or whatever it's called), it would not shock me if they matched or even exceeded in a NIL offer to him the $10M+ he will make in NBA next year.

I'm not a Flagg hater at all. But that loss stung him hard. It would be for anyone. Only reason to come back would be to try to win the Championship. Don't think that will outweigh the bag he is about to recieve.

He’s gone. Aside from no more dorms, classes, curfews etc, there’s a decent chance he doesn’t play for Washington this coming year. They have the best shot of winning the lottery but there’s always a possibility the number 1 pick goes somewhere else. Having said that, all the teams picking in the lottery are more than likely going to be picking in the lottery next year.

Honestly if I were cooper, id hope to get drafted by the wizards so I can help build a great team. It has a decent core with Sarr and no telling who would sign to play with him. I say go.

While Flagg is the only one who knows the answer, I wouldn’t be all that surprised if he returned to Dook for another season. Flagg seems bright and uber-competitive, but he’s also proud and accustomed to unbelievable success at every level where he’s competed - except when all the marbles were on the table in his one and only NCAA championship game. Does Flagg want to face the prospect of potentially being remembered as the National Player Of The Year who choked and left it short when it really counted (I don’t agree that Flagg choked)? Is he prepared to have his college career remembered along the same general lines as the 1983 Houston Cougars or the 1985 Georgetown Hoyas? Close but got the yips at the end…

Flagg is only 18. He only got his license two years ago and he’s already loaded. Maybe he enjoys college life? He’ll be filthy rich from Nikeand Dook NIL if he comes back for another year. And think of the endorsement$ Flagg will land for being the clean cut Duke guy who bucked the trend by being “loyal” to his school, teammates and coaches, and wins a national championship in the process. They put people on Wheaties boxes for that kind of stuff.

Who knows if Flagg comes back? But I won’t be shocked if he does.

I actually don't care of he comes back. If he does, it just proves even more that Duke is operating on a different playing field than everyone else. There is no way Flagg comes back if he goes to any school, but Duke could pay him 10m for another year. So be it. But they better win the title. Absolutely no excuses when you're operating with double the salary as almost any other program.

It’s not that first year of rookie contract he’ll miss, that will happen anyway just a year later, although apparently the NBA likes Dybansta better so he may not go number one next year. Each year he stays in school is a year of free agent contract that he loses.

Flagg seems like the same dude as when he arrived. I feel like Scheyer just gave him the ball and let him do Flagg things. Which was great - but he seems like he could have been even better than he was.
