It's being released this week and the big stores are doing the raffle for the release. I went to the liquor store by my house and the guy has bottles available but the cheapest at $300. So that's highway robbery. I called a couple others and they already sold out and said it was first come first serve.

So, anybody have any luck yet or going to one of these raffles?

Yea, I'm just looking to get lucky and maybe get a bottle. I completely understand people making money off of it. Just don't like when some liquor stores raise it like this guy did when others sale it for retail value when they could make a lot more if they wanted to.

Its a racket. Honestly the stuff is great, but if somebody was willing to give me $1200-2000 for it, then yeah it's the nectar of the gods.

The North End Cafe in Douglas Loop has Pappy cocktails, it you're willing to splurge.

It's ridiculously expensive, but at least you can find out if it's worth paying $300 for a bottle.

I sold a bottle of 23 year to a family member for about $300. This was before it completely blew up. I'm thinking about breaking into his house and stealing it back. I'll slip $10 bills into his jacket every few weeks until it is completely paid off.

It's very good bourbon (well, the 15, 20 and rye are anyway), but it's not worth a significant premium to the retail, and the 23 year, as a sipper, isn't even worth its retail price.

The whole 'secondary market' for bourbon has jumped the shark, and progressed well past the 'ridiculous' stage. At this point, the real steals in bourbon are private selections of bottles you can already find on shelves. Store picks, society selections, etc. You just have to find the selection that fits your palate.

None of them are worth camping out or waiting in a line overnight. But then again, that's not about the bourbon anyway, just profits.
