Getting to take my first trip to the masters this week for Thursday and Friday rounds. Curious from those who have had the opportunity to go what advice you may have on a great place to hang out and watch the action. Definitely planning on walking the course in full and taking it all in but know will be planting some to watch the action as well. Thanks in advance for any input you have.

I went one time for a practice round. Hard to get an idea of how many people are there from the tv. Unless you are a proficient crowd swimmer, good luck on seeing anything up close.
Was there today, but only got a few hours in before severe weather shut it down. Supposed to rain again Wednesday night so there could be some low scores Thursday.
12 was one of the places I thought might be good so thanks for the heads up there. Thanks also for the phone heads up. I knew you weren't supposed to take out there but wasn't sure how much they hawked you on it.
Don't be afraid to step into the tee boxes and ask for autogrpahs.
I've also seen recommendations on other sites to hit the gift shop up first thing and then take it back to your car. I would do this especially if you want a flag. I went on Sunday and flags were sold out.
Thanks for that. My step-son wanted me to get him a flag so will definitely do that.
Sunday 2007 when Zack Johnson won. Hanged out at Amen Corner until the leaders came around then followed ZJ and his group of friends and family as he finished the back nine. His group was giddy given that ZJ was in contention for winning on the back nine. Really cool. Best sporting event to go to. One weird thing though. Augusta is within what was a pine forest and still has many treed areas within and around the course. I never saw one squirrel.

Been several times. Everything about Augusta is awesome. Gift shop lines are long but they control the crowd well. Make sure to bring lots of $ because shirts and all are expensive. It will blow your mind all of the stuff you can buy in that place.
I personally like hanging out on hole 16. Great hole plus you can easily walk over and watch the guys hit on the 17th tee box. I always prefer practice rounds because it's more of a relaxed atmosphere.
Heads up if you are going on Thur and Friday. Weather is going to suck. Windy and cool. Bring some warmer gear with you.

It's a magical place.
For a non-weekend round, I'd just hop around as much as possible and try to watch a group or two one each hole. There's really no way to get a prime spot for viewing, you just have to get lucky.
I was there for a Tuesday practice round and it was not too bad getting around.
As mentioned, eat some good food (pimento cheese is like $1.50, lemonade is a buck) and leave your phone in the car. They will confiscate or kick you out.

I've been once.
My advice is to follow a particular group, and walk the whole 18 holes with them.
That way you can get a feel of each hole, and decide after that how and where you want to be.
If you're really into who wins, and seeing all the action on Sunday, I would get there on Sunday Morning and follow a group early, and then have a good sports bar to go to in the afternoon so you can see all of the developments.
I've been to dozens of PGA tour events, including all four Majors, and if you stick around to see action late on Sunday, you're going to be hitting a cluster, and won't get to see hardly anything.
Again, get to a bar to see the last group of contenders on Sunday.
I can't imagine worse advice.

I get this trip has been something I'll always remember and look forward to trying again someday with my only son... but I think we should head out early and hit up B-Dubs... Yeah, that's terrible advice. I can't imagine not hanging around. The roars in that place are the stuff of legend. You can watch from home every other year. There's no way in hell im cutting out after lunch on Sunday.
Exactly, for that matter, I guess you can see the Kentucky Derby a lot better on TV than you can from a trackside box, but if I ever get offered another one (saw Fusiachi Pegasus win in 2000, and I had the winner, for a change), you can bet your *** I'm going to take it.
Yeah, I sure wish I wouldn't have stuck around at Valhalla to see the US break the streak. I even had to sit in traffic for a few minutes or so.

I just realized he's the same feller who said he's played nicer courses (plural, btw) than Augusta. Ok, pal.
Not sure I am listening to someone who has only been there once for great advice on what/what not to do. I have been 6 times and each time is a new experience. If you pay what it takes to get in there, make the drive/flight, etc. and leave early to go to a bar to watch the rest is a pretty stupid thing to do. Being there the final day in that atmosphere is what it is ALL about. To each their own.
When I was in college back in the late 60's I played Augusta 4 times with my good friend who was on the U.K. golf team.
Anyone who used to take their young horses to Aiken, SC knows that a lot of the horse people in the area play Augusta.

My wife's cousins drove out to Augusta from New Braunfels, near Austin. According to their Facebook posts, they really enjoyed the event.
Got to spend Thursday and Friday there before heading back home to watch the weekend on TV. There is no substitute for being there and I do think to be on the 18th on Sunday for a finale like this years would be amazing. That being said you do see a lot more watching from TV. I don't think I would want to go to the masters every single year but certainly something to enjoy from time to time when the opportunity presents itself.
Got to watch a lot of great golf this year and settled up on 18 toward the end of the day just before couples about backed one up for eagle. It was the first of about 6 amazing shots there in a row.

You do understand the slogan "a tradition unlike any other" just a bit more after having the chance to attend.

I've played the Ocean Course in South Carolina, Pebble Beach, and Whistling Straits.
I didn't play Augusta National, I've just been there for the tournament. I think the absolute beauty of the course is phenomenal, second to none, but the actual layout is really hilly, with a lot of uneven lies.

Look, I deal with a-holes 7 days a week with my business, so you're not going to faze me. I actually like the posters on here, they don't see to take themselves too seriously, except for a few.
Even if I went every year I'd stay on Sunday. I saw Mize chip in to win 30 years ago. Still one of the top 3 sports moments I've witnessed. Sure beat the TV!!
Yeah it really sucked following around Bob May and Tiger Woods for six holes and watching them gut it out in a playoff, heck I had to stand on my toes for 20 seconds to see Tiger hit that 20 footer on 18 to win. Never again.
Playing pebble beach this October myself, how well do you like that course. Did you also play spyglass? Playing that the day after pebble and I hear spyglass is actually a nicer course but could be a matter of opinion. Whistling straits is actually next on our list so interested in what you think there. Played sawgrass in 2015 which I highly recommend. Live that course and will definitely be back.
