No. Plenty of time to get talented players and a good team put together. More players are going to enter the Portal-they have until May 1st to enter. Many still available.
I'm ready to hear the Staff being finalized. If it's not by tomorrow, starting to get concerned he's being turned down by some coaches.

Yes, I'm concerned. To say otherwise is akin to sticking your head in the sand. That doesn't mean it won't all work out nicely. But yes, I'm concerned.

We are barely beyond step 2. Staff, system placed, culture change. We have 15 years of the old to purge from. We are purging from guys who didn’t love UK. They used UK.

Cal did us a favor. He erased all of the 33M we owed him. Pope's entire contract is worth less than Cal's severance. Let the waters calm in a week or two. We will build a roster of people who actually want to be here, and will respect the opportunity, the fan base, the school, and the state.

Pearl maybe couldve. Any coach with players in the nba and a ace recruiter in hand could've maybe. Calipari is hard to recruit away from.

Re staff, again that stupid KY state law posting thing doesn't end until Wed, the 17th. Wouldn't expect an announcement until after that. However....strongly suspect Pope has the assts he wants lined up, may even already be working.
I'm not concerned about players yet. A week from now I may be if we still only have 2.

There was never any doubt that Cal would take his recruits with him and to think differently is foolish.
I think Pope wanted Chandler to be announced first - it was the biggest signing of Pope's career, the biggest recruit to EVER commit to BYU. So I think Pope wanted to start his tenure at UK with the announcing of his own personal greatest recruiting haul of his career. Now that Chandler is on board, I think you'll start seeing some more dominos fall, especially coupled with the coaching staff being official

I'm not concerned this is just the new reality of college basketball. There were multiple teams in the SEC last year that totally overhauled their rosters from 2022/2023, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina. Each of those teams put out nice rosters last year and made the NCAA tournament. Only exception is UK does not really have a recruiting class to add to the transfers like they will in coming years.
I can be pretty impatient, but I am not concerned at this point.

As I've said - I've seen Kentucky basketball rise from the ashes and win 4 NC and go to 12 FF with 4 different coaches just in my lifetime. Did some of you just start watching Kentucky basketball 5 years ago? Did you watch the press conference with 20,000 people going crazy and yet still fail to understand that Kentucky Basketball is bigger than any one coach?
Do you fail to see that Pope is the universe righting itself, following a nine-year overstay by the prior coach?
A week or so ago we were watching an absurd joint press conference with Mitch and Cal awkwardly being awkward and further dooming the program to continued and exasperating futility. Fast forward a few days and and a giant motherfrakking bus with a police escort pulls into Rupp Arena to the roars of 20,000 rabid fans...for a mother loving press conference.
Is the significance of something like this completely lost on you? Were we better off a week ago with the Cal charade shopping himself around while gaslighting everyone in the state - or are we better of now?
It can be leaked who they are though. I mean we knew Cal was leaving and he officially didn't do it for some time. We'd hear who he was hiring and it would leak out.
This year was never going to be a year we had a shot to win a title. I hope our fans realize that. He got hired a bit late and hasn't really been killing recruiting so connections aren't there yet. They will be though.

Wait til the last few days of April before you worry. The portal doesn't close until May 1. If the roster is incomplete then maybe worry a little but remember grad transfers can enter the portal at any time along with players that have coaching changes.

Sure it can be leaked and usually is. However, maybe that's not Pope's style. Maybe, for whatever reason, he wanted it kept quiet. We'll find out in due course, maybe another day or 2.
