Anyone else happy for Indiana?

I watch very little prollegiate football anymore. I didn't see the Indiana game yesterday. Nonetheless, I was happy this morning for their players, students, and alums. Even though the Hoosiers have been undeniably good the last two years, it still has the feel of a Davey and Goliath story. I hope they figure out how to take the whole thing.
I’m happy for Indiana. Our daughter interviewed there for her residency and liked it. So it’s a viable option. Plus, it’s in Indianapolis.

I guess a lot of people may think this is still just a flash in the pan for them, but I'm not a big fan of it. I always enjoyed the history and tradition of college football. If any bottom feeder can just somehow game the system and suddenly win it, then what's the point of the history and tradition?

I still wonder how many of their own fans would have rather been doing this in basketball. They play in a joke looking stadium. I don't know, it's just a real kick in the *** to go to a 110,000 seat stadium with the history and tradition of Penn State knowing hell, some basketball school with half the seats can beat this. I think the feeling still is that this won't be sustainable, because a lot more people would be pissed if it they thought it was.
Now we get to the crux of the matter. Some newcomer to the group that violates your concept of the "natural order".

I suppose if you just froze the state of CFB some time in the past, say the late 80's you would be perfectly happy.

You seem to forget the struggle for acceptance that PS went through. Prior to the late 70s PS was considered in the same light as Boise State, not worthy of serious consideration as a NC.

I am hoping Indiana wins the title and becomes an annual power in the B1G.

I just watched an interview of Cignetti by Nicole Auerbach. It's worth the time to view. Also, did Nicole have a bit of a makeover?

Not if they are the lower seed. It would be entertaining to watch Miami play in Columbus or State College when it is 10 degrees.
Correct it would be great to see them play in the cold but, and this is my fault as I wasn't clear, they'd get a lot more home games as well.

Cig is obnoxious. Obviously if he’s your coach great . They just landed the TCU qb and the MSU wr. If you like Indy now, you will be hating them soon enough . They are going to be good for the foreseeable future.

I'd rather see a balanced conference than a top 2 heavy one.

Indiana reminds me of PSU in '94', the powers that be can
only allow so much in the power shift.

No offense meant. I've been to Indy a few times to visit in-laws. It’s a very nice city.
No offense taken. Was ‘happy for Indiana’ (title of thread) but not happy for IU football. Great school though and their residency program (based in Indy not Bloomington) seems like a good option.

We should have beat them if not for a miracle catch and Amare Campbell not being able to corral a tipped ball for an interception. They are a very good team, but the key to beat them is to pound the Mendoza. We were doing that. Our offensive play calls our last possession ultimately doomed us. A team like Miami as well as Oregon, with elite DL may get the job done.
But we didn't.

Discipline, outstanding coaching, great preparation, and 11 guys all playing with a purpose on every snap.
(And no clown shows on the field or sidelines after every play)

While they, unfortunately, have to live in the same cesspool of college sports as everyone else right now - it is hard to imagine anyone who has an affection for sports not completely enjoying what that team has been doing.
People who like the old guard of Bama, Georgia and Ohio State always winning do not like it. All three out, beautiful.

Lol on Auerbach makeover. I think she did. She was like some kind of below average looking journalist type who would appear on The Big Ten network. Probably what happened is NBC came and said look we would like you to be a main part of our broadcast team but you are not good looking enough. Do something to your appearance and then we will talk.

It's not about the one less game...that is an advantage
It's about the insane 26 days between games when the other team play 10 days ago. No one should be going a month without playing. It's not shocking they're losing.
You and I do not always agree on everything but you hit the nail EXACTLY on the head. When PSU plays Clemson they have both been off for 26 days. When a first round bye team plays a 5-8 team it has been off for 26+/-days vs a team that played 10+/- days ago, A major benefit to the 5-8 team.

Wow.

Their stadium is very cool imo. Their campus is beautiful - somewhat like University Park. I guess you didn't like Breaking Away, huh?

I would be more of a Purdue fan if I lived out there. Engineers, boilermakers, trains. That's more my kind of thing. And I still think IU was stupid for firing Bob Knight. They even fired Kevin Wilson for trying to be tough. Cignetti might want to be careful.
