I honestly thought the score would be reversed. I didn't get to watch the whole game, but we looked like a different team from what I was able to see. I didn't think we had a chance, but I was wrong. Offense looked much more balanced and the defense looked very strong. I am happy we won, and I misjudged this team. Enjoying this win and being wrong.

Nope. Not me. I was hard on the team last week, and justifiably so. We were awful last week. There was essentially nothing positive to take away from last week's game. I don't think any of us were wrong about the team. The team just made progress week over week, which is a good sign. And needs to continue. When the team plays well, I'll say so. When we play poorly, I'll say so.

And, yes, I was shocked at the game outcome, as all USC fans were. Anyone who thought might win, thought it would be along the lines of last year's game. Nobody saw this happening. Very good effort overall.

Based off the ugly first game, I thought that Kentucky was going to kill us this week.
Sellers I think was much better and will get better as season goes on. He doesn’t collapse under pressure and seems to be capable of making something out of nothing. Just my non-expert opinion.

When you barely beat a team like Old Dominion (it felt like a loss) you might come away with some of the comments I have been reading. The defense, except for a few plays in both games has played solidly in those first two games. Both offense and defense got better between games one and two. No, we aren't going to run the table or even prove Vegas wrong necessarily, but as gut wrenching as last week was, Saturday in Lexington was fun to watch.

I said yesterday, after the game, IF we beat LSU, I will begin dreaming about the possibilities. Why do I say that? If Beamer is going to succeed here, it is not teams like Arkansas, Vandy, Mississippi State or, yes, Kentucky, he is going to have to beat. Those teams have never out recruited us by miles. We have recruited in the same neighborhood as Kentucky over the years. It's teams like Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, Clemson, etc that annually kill us in recruiting that he has to beat semi-consistently. If you think we are ever going to consistently or semi-consistently out recruit the BAMAs of the world, your head is in the clouds. It's the Bamas of the world that Beamer needs to beat. I would put Oklahoma, LSU, and Texas A&M (if Elko, unlike Jimbo Fisher, can coach) in that category. So, I would pump the brakes before penciling us into the playoffs.

Great post. Beating the teams you mention toward end keeps us in play with talented players. Without that we are middle of the pack at best in the SEC.

Honestly, if people would have known that score in advance, 99% of college football fans would have picked UK. It was a very pleasant surprise. Still, we were lucky to not lose fumbles and UK with timely penalties that hurt. I saw 4 wins max after last week - will be satisfied if we win 6-7. If the D can play that well we could steal 1-2 we may not otherwise win. Looked like the coaches on both sides had a good game plan.

I don’t bet…my brother in law asked me should he take SC. I always tell him to not bet our games. Friday i told him to take SC and we would win straight up. I expected a 9-12 point win. Lou Holtz said it succinctly….you bring a different team to the stadium each week. We have talent and last week was the first time it played together.

But people who understand football know these types of things. We know what Stoops brings with KY….it doesn’t change. I felt we were in excellent shape

I was pleasantly surprised. If we can get a serious ground game going, we might be a force to reckon with. Stewart is a beast and Bennett is going to be a great receiver for us. Kentucky needs a new QB . . . Vandagriff sucks.
That game by Vandagriff reminds of the year UK rolled out Sawyer Smith. Maybe it was injuries but they put in Lynn Bowden in late against us and avoided a shutout. But they were a completely different team the rest of the way.
I’m ecstatic for the win, but we were able to escape some serious mistakes such as the INT right before half. Also fumbled twice and miracously came up with the ball one time.
Kudos to the team for their improvement between week 1 and 2. Defense should keep us in most games. Look forward to the continued improvement of the offense under Sellers direction.

1 week was a small sample size. But it was against OD. Beamer said in the postgame presser last night that a lot of people were very down on the program after last week. Well, it was warranted. I'm happy with the convincing win last night. It was badly needed if we're to make a bowl. Still a small sample and UK helped out with a lot of mistakes. I think they believed they were a lot better than they are. Their confidence has to be badly shaken after that performance. We had some mistakes as well, like 2 fumbles by the QB that thankfully were not lost. There is much room for improvement.

On a positive note, this appears to be a good defense.
