The moment you get off of 75 to go East or West on 40, it's more bumps and potholes than it is road.compared to how awful I-40 was

I know I seen trenches on 65 seem like 3 or 4 feet long I bought a car and headed south on the first day of summer and actually thought I wasn't gonna make it to Nashville the road was so bad. Burn spots from wrecks and guardrails mangled and crushed from no tell how many wrecks. They are killing people on the roads from ky state line to Nashville.Tennessee has to have the worst interstates in the country. One of my best friends moved from Kentucky to a suburb of Memphis last year. Wife and I took a long weekend to visit them last summer.
I was astounded by how ****** I-65 was from the TN line to just north of Nashville. That was nothing compared to how awful I-40 was. Four lanes the whole way. Way too much traffic for that road. Surface looked like it hadn’t been touched since at least the 1980s.
Agree wholeheartedly. After living most of my life in Lexington and Versailles, I moved to Savannah, GA in 2014. We do the 75 drive many times a year, between here and Lex or here and Knoxville, where our grandbabies are. I’m talking a hundred trips between then and now, including the trip we returned from a couple days ago. We run into issues in the same areas every single time.
The obvious is Atlanta. But it’s not the city itself. It’s the 75 drive above and below Atlanta that gets bottlenecked. Especially south of Atlanta. It clears out after that. Other than the ATL issue, our only problem is the dumbass state of Tennessee. It’s the only state on the 75 corridor that refuses to go three lanes and 70mph. I get the Jellicho deal, but they’ve been working on that for 20 years. Still zero progress. Tennessee, you suck.
