tired of hearing Todd and Tommy trying to put lipstick on a pig by pointing out how good some of USC's stats are (i.e.; rushing), when the only stat that matters is the score?

They're both former players (duh), so they have be being told to stick to that narrative even though they know it's meaningless.

If you're not getting blown out statistically by far more talented teams on their homefield - that is very meaningful. Turnaronds are then possible.

Straight game stats are far too simplistic to provide any meaningful insight into the outcome of the game. If they did, they would explain the sphincter waxing USC got tonight... but they don't, so they're woefully incomplete.

Disagree. Stats are incredibly impt when you are playing a team with far superior talent on their homefield.

If we had ended up with 150 yards for the game and that score, that's a completely different story.

The game wasn't that lopsided. As Muschamp used to say -- games between good teams are typically determined by 6 or so critical plays during a game. That's what that game resembled. Again, if we score early like we had several chances to do -- that could have changed the entire complection.

Stats are an opiate for losers. I can't begin to count how many times SC lost a game and then spent the next week pointing to the stats and how we had more yards, time of possession, etc. and "really won the game".

You size yourself up often by stats in those situations.

Stats are very important in my opinion, our running game is much improved, the OL is much improved, it's just very unfortunate our pass rush is not what it used to be and our secondary is breaking down often by allowing huge explosive plays. Then you add in our qb who is still struggling to see the field in front of him, still looking down his primary receiver and as a result still making game changing mistakes.

I think I understand your thought on this being better than managing only 50 yards rushing while losing. But I cant see really celebrating that.

I thought the offense played well overall - sans the two turnovers. Some missed opportunities that were there too.

The defense wasn't as good as the senior loaded one we brought in two years ago in the heartbreaker.

You can't underestimate the luxury of having a 2nd team come off the bench at any point in the game and be as good (if not better) than our winded 1st team players.

Yes! Todd for 110% needs to be relieved of his duties. He’s the very very worst. Tommy last week in the 4th quarter particularly had just absolutely give up. Like Beamer though, they will just be allowed to keep on being bad

We're just going to have to agree to disagree.

If box score stats told so much of the story, there wouldn't be the need for the advanced analytics. Sort of like going to the doc - he can take your temp and tell you that you're sick if you have a fever, but he's going to need more info to tell you why.
