We're going tonight since we have season tickets and live in Lexington. I'm excited to see the '66 team members at halftime and will be pulling for the Cats to win. Not as excited for the game like I usually am but I still love my Cats. This team, not so much.

I am. I am old enough to have seen less talented teams turn their season around....or not.
This team needs to embrace what they are and understand what they are not and Pope needs to do a better job of coaching what they have. They aren't going to be a great team, but if they made the commitment, they could be much more respectable than they are

Always look forward to seeing the Cats play. But if this one starts going off the rails there's the NFL playoff game on Prime as plan B.

Everyone feel free to fan however you want to, that's the great part about this.

Personally, I'm checked out. For me, it's just another year without an SEC regular season title (2020), and another year without an SEC tournament title (2018). I'll go out on a limb and guess we finish the season somewhere around 17 or 18 wins.

I’m sure they’ll come out flat after Pope’s brilliant pregame motivation. Probably be down at halftime while Pope “collects data”. Hubbard probably goes for 25-30 as we struggle to defend ball screens. If we lose he’ll be so sad in the postgame. Just devastated and certain posters will say, “It’s not on Pope! Leave him alone. He’s a great and smart man that will turn it all around!!!!”
You know, you are probably right and I am probably wrong but I believe for some crazy reason that the team will come out fired up tonight more than they have been in the Pope era.

Surely they are tired of hearing they are soft?

I mean, if they don’t tonight then the season is over.

Will it make a difference? Who the hell knows?

And will it carry over? Doubtful.

But just one time? Yes!!🏀

I’m just curious if/how many fans are excited for the game tonight? Or are you just tuning in?

I love the Cats. I have been excited for every game this season so far. Today, I’m kind of not. Just wondering.

I’m praying for improvement.
I’m the eternal optimist and this is probably the least excited I’ve been on game day since the COVID year.

I’m also working today here in Ames about to tip off in about an hour but I work other games on games days often and typically still have quite a bit more excitement than today. We’d have to win 5 of our next 6 to move the needle for me. Possibly but highly highly unlikely.

I was going to post this same thread, because the way I feel right now, is just not sitting well with me.

I dread game days now. I have enough stress at work and the last 5+ years of UK basketball has been mostly filled with anxiety and let downs and there's nothing I can do about it.

This team is so far away from being good, that it's a chore to watch them.

Last game, I would get pumped when we would go on a run, but then our guys just decided to piss all over that excitement over and over. I never raised my voice, or got mad, I've become numb and complacent. Never thought I would get this way.

Plus, I'm a Bears fan, so I'll be watching both games at the same time. Hopefully I go 2-0 tonight.

Excited...no. Hopeful....yes. Nervous/scared....absolutely.

It seems one of BG's (the coach) team ran off 10 or so straight wins at the end of the season and made it into the tourney after everyone gave up. Maybe????????? I'll watch and find out.

It’s really hard to get excited about a Pope coached team but I love Kentucky basketball so much that I’ll watch and pull for the guys. I’m usually disappointed when season is over but this off season I will be curious to the chances made. He can’t go into next season with same team

Nope, I’m so down right now I won’t even watch. It sucks because basketball season is my favorite thing or time of the year and I can’t even enjoy other teams right because I’m so down about our team.

I feel like it’s the wrong way to be but they lost me. I just don’t care anymore. Wins don’t pump me up and losses don’t piss me off. Pope got my heart heading back in the right direction last year but as much as I like him as a person and former player he’s turned out to be a horrible coach (probably as bad as Kenny Payne) and I can’t deal with it. He’s an embarrassment. If I had a vote I’d say I hope they win but I really don’t care much anymore.

Yea man I’m a fan and I wait all year for it myself. But it arrived this year and is an embarrassment. Can’t get excited about it. It’s a bad product. I’m not gonna sit here and act excited. Sometimes we need to be honest with the ones we love lol

I agree with you 100%
It's not even close to the way I felt last year, and tough to get up for a game now.

I find myself so excited, I can barely sit still, or hold a thought in my head. I think it’s the feeling only a Kentucky fan can feel. A Kentucky fan, at the beginning of a long journey, who’s conclusion is uncertain.

Apathetic is the word for me. I will watch and support the guys. Btw the ageless argument, just because you criticize poor play doesn’t make you any less of a fan. Soapbox over.
This team is hard to watch. Between the sometimes lackluster effort, lack of team chemistry and just poor product on the court this team is hard to get excited about.
There is no game left in the schedule that I am convinced they will win. Several game where I give them zero chance of winning, zero games where we blow the opponent out, and several where we get blown out.
I am just hoping we make the NCAAT but not confident we will. So between zero hope for this year and zero recruits so far for next season = apathy.

If I am being honest, I have gone into every game after Michigan State with the same excitement as going to a root canal appointment - I hope it goes well and doesn’t hurt too bad.

I will watch this team until they piss me off. Double digit deficit in the first half is usually a good way to do it. I didn’t make it to the first TV timeout of the Gonzaga game and quit watching the Alabama game at the half.

Numb would be the best word. Apathetic as Wccat said above is pretty good too. Guess the latter Calipari years conditioned me to bad basketball. Most of the time I just hold my head in my hands and sigh when I watch this team on the floor. It's just stupid mistake after miscue after outright bad decision. I don't get mad anymore because it is just so.....pathetic.

Ah well, nothing I can do about this situation, so I will tune in and see if some miracle takes place like in 2002 and 2014. Not optimistic, but maybe.

I dunno.

Sometimes when I go climbing, I’m like “I would rather beat myself over the head with a wet hose than do this.” But I usually make myself do it anyway because it’s what I do. And more than half the time if I go then I have a better time than expected even if I wasn’t looking forward to it that day.

That’s how I feel about watching this game, going into it.

Done with my duties here in Ames, heading to hotel to watch the cats. Wish Pope had the handle on his team that TJ does. I’ve watched both teams interact with their coaching staff this season and the difference is night and day. Pope and his staff must learn to set the expectations and non negotiables from day one and then hold each individual accountable. Respect is earned and your team will always operate at the lowest level you tolerate. I hope to see a noticeable adjustment today to the offense and the way our defense works through screens. That small adjustment would do wonders.

I'm not excited at all, just a little curious. It seems pretty clear that Pope doesn't have the coaching chops to make it work with this roster but I am curious to see if they just quit and have a losing record or show some fight.

Pregame pep talk by Riley? I am sure it would be less philosophical than Pope's.

I can appreciate you positivity since I just haven't seen anything from this team or coaching staff to think they can come together and play as one team. The other concern is that they don't have the talent to turn it around.
