I'm not even going to address equating opioid addiction with pediatric cancer -- your example is absurd on it's face.
However, when I "roll back the tape" I see you were clearly implying that Rex's addiction problems were because he had "a tough road." You didn't say those problems were tough road in and of themselves, which would have been at least marginally more acceptable. Instead, you basically claimed that his "tough road" --
i.e. his life up to that point -- led to his addiction.
So, again, please provide specific examples from Rex's hard-scrabble, under-privileged upbringing that caused his current problems. As always, TIA.
