Anyone heading out to the Rose Bowl for the UCLA game?

For those that are going out- it’d be interesting to hear where to stay and the logistics of the trip. We hear so much about how bad LA traffic is. It’ll be nice to hear how long it took to drive to the Rose Bowl and back etc.

Heading to LA thursday with a group of 6 coming from all over. Staying in Marina Del Rey and will make the drive. Don't really have a tailgate plan.

I heard a number of Penn Staters are going to the Bruin Beer Garden at BruinFest just north of the stadium on the golf course.

In 1995 we stayed in Marina del Rey and loved it! Have a great time.

Tgar never understands why folks traveling to an away game worry about where to tailgate. From the looks of things, Pasadena is awash with great breakfast, coffee, and pastry spots. Get your morning started then walk over to the game.

There will hopefully be Mexican Hot Dog Carts in the vicinity selling Mexican cart dogs and Modelos. With any luck, there will be outdoor beer gardens and Cocktail lounges as was the case at the USC Game.

It’s going to be a Fiesta!

The wife and I have lived in Pasadena since 2010. Happy to provide suggestions around town and beyond ([email protected]).

I have a buddy coming in for the game (he hosted us last year for a home game) so we'll be going to a few Pasadena/Sierra Madre breweries as well as my garage/man cave for games afterwards.

UCLA sells pregame sideline passes for the opponent sideline so we splurged for those.

In terms of driving/parking, I would suggest not parking at the Rose Bowl. Park in Old Town and take the shuttle from Parsons Engineering Building. After the game, they'll be a fleet of shuttle buses to take you back to Old Town. We've also walked to/from Old Town.

Regarding the Mexican cart dogs, they smell awesome and taste great but having they can be hit or miss when it comes to any stomach issues you may have aftewards. You don't want to be stuck in the lots or on a shuttle when that hot dog hits.

Where did you buy the sideline pass?

https://ucla.evenue.net/events/FBSIDEL

From the website: Pre-game sideline passes are for the Opponent side of the field in the NE quadrant of the Rose Bowl only. UCLA side pre-game sideline passes in the SE quadrant of the Rose Bowl are available as a benefit level to Wooden Athletic Fund members. Please visit: woodenathleticfund.com or call (310) 206-3302 for more information on eligibility for UCLA side pre-game sideline passes.

Pre-game sideline pass redemption begins 75 minutes before kick at Tunnel 7A. Entrance to the field starts 60 minutes prior to kick. A separate ticket is required to enter the Rose Bowl Stadium and is not included with the pre-game sideline pass.

Flying into LAX Thursday and I have a ticket for Game 3 of Reds-Dodgers if they get there. Staying in Monrovia and probably gonna either Uber in or park in Old Town and walk/shuttle as suggested above. Meeting with members of TV crew around 9:30 and then after that just checking out the area around the stadium.

Old Town Monrovia is nice. My wife and I will go there sometimes for dinner. Your transportation plan sounds good. The walk is nice but the shuttle shouldn't have that long of a wait. For the Rose Bowl game or a concert, the shuttle wait can be awhile but for a regular season UCLA game, not bad.

Thanks for the heads up. I think the shuttle is going to be the way to go since I'm gonna end up in Old Town after the game anyway.

Will there be some kind of organized PSU tailgate party, maybe from the Alumni Association? I'm looking for some kind of PSU tailgate.
