Speaking of Yates in another thread, does anyone here post on other Duke forums? I feel like there aren't many names here I recognize from TDD or DBR...?

I've pretty much just posted here the last 10 years. Used to post somewhat frequently on DBR under a different handle. Also posted a lot back in the day on BDN (Mark Watson)....that was just a premium board.

TDD for a touch and blue devils reign for some time but BDR can be a pretty toxic place and I thought it best to leave.

I started here and I'll finish here, whatever that means lol.

I gave up on the DBR boards when they used to make you put this code in to confirm every post. That was like very late 90's. They don't do that anymore but I've just never gotten into their forum. Is there a lot of traffic?

Not Duke boards, but I gots all kinda trolling accounts for when i rake the wallpaper off the bathroom walls. I used to use Yates during these time consuming times after Taco Bell Tuesday’s, but I guess he went sky diving or something....:(

No. I read DBR's forum for recruiting and injury updates, but only share my sparkling personality with you lovely people. I kid, I kid.

In the mid to late 90s a simplistic Duke fan page ran and operated by I believe a woman

It truly was the only outlet with Duke team rosters and statistics available. Now that I think of it 20 years is a long time but in those days even ESPN had limited stats available on College Sports especially not players/teams from the past. This all changed with 'basketball-reference'

I tried to google find the fan page but I believe it went off line a few years ago. The main page would allow you to click on specific Duke seasons and then that page would include the team photo and/or poster with regular season, ACC and tournament stats.

For example

This is the only Duke board I’ve ever posted on. I used to read the Duke message forum on wral’s website but it always seemed like there were more UNC fans posting on there trolling Duke than there were Duke fans posing. On the flip side, the UNC message board on wral’s website always seemed to have more Duke fans posting on there than UNC fans.

I posted on the ESPN forums for a few years back in the day. I remember some trolling. But, it was all I knew existed lol. ESPN forums have been shut down for like 7 years or so, all I distinctively remember is a guy named “SirBlueDevil”

I dabbled a bit in DBR briefly but I didn’t care for it. Seemed like a good portion of the posters were alums, Iron Duke ticket holders, locals. Bringing up their 40 year fanhood, tenure and experiences in a condescending type of manner. I could careless if you’ve been to 1 or 500 games, attended the university, have family alumni, if you’re 20 years old, 65 years old, gift $10,000 a year for tickets or watch the games with binoculars through your neighbors windows..... Age and wallet size has nothing to do with a basketball discussion. If you’re not in the locker room, your opinion or thoughts don’t hold more value than anyone else’s. Just read some snobbish posts. When Andre Dawkin’s return was announced, I was discussing his consistency / transition back to basketball. I disagreed with one guy and he fired back letting me know that he has a sticker on his car affiliated with Duke so blah blah means he picks his seats because yada yada yadaaaa he graduated, dad mom uncle all 16 wives 755 cousins graduated. He watched 284737 games in student section, knows so and so [insert more rambling] once wrote for chronicle. leading to his opinion on Andre. Yaaaa... I didn’t fit in.

Don’t get me wrong, I had some intellectual basketball discussions during my short stay. Majority weren’t nutjobs but there’s a sense of entitlement on there. I don’t like it. Maybe it’s different now or maybe none of y’all gathered that opinion... that’s just all my thoughts

I know exactly who you’re talking about and I can’t remember his name. He was a heels fan and literally lived on Duke’s forum.

That SirBlueDevil character was one of a kind. He would talk about loving our players and great university. It was in a tone and style that made it seem as if Duke were a religion and he was sent to the forums on a missionary to spread the gospel. Always called UNC the “tarholes” - Nice guy, but I thought he was a lunatic when it came to talking basketball. I never bothered giving him my 2 cents, the whole forum loved him. He always signed every post saying something (can’t remember) then writing “SBD”

Forum glory days lol

Larry Scatland from Grand Canyon University. One of Duke's biggest fans of all time.

I was a regular on the CFB side of the ESPN forums. I think the Top 25 general board. All of them migrated to "FVsports" and "UltimateSportsBoards". For some reason the only CBB guy I remember was I think Krauser4MVP. Homage to Krauser a Pitt player from 2001 to '06

Are you two talking about the Duke board or the main board? If it’s the main board, that sounds like BEAST or BEASTY.

Duke board. He lived there. (I’m sure he posted on main board too idk)

Y’all have fantastic memories, I can’t remember squat without someone refreshing me. I had like 4,000 posts too, I was pretty regular. Was there a UNC fan named GrEgPaULusUcKs? I remember another troll with a username referencing Scheyer. ScheyerCryer or ScheyerFace maybe? Whoever it was would regularly post his crazy facial expressions. Sad that I remember the trolls and not the people I actually discussed hoops with hahaha

I know I’ve seen those usernames somewhere, it has to be a foggy memory of ESPN’s forum days.

Oh, anyone that dealt with BEAST remembers him. At first, he seemed like an over the top troll, but quickly became apparent he was just that much of a homer. That and he was banned about every week and came back with a proxy and some variation of the “BEAST” name. Huge Big East fan. A Pitt fan I think. He HATED everything about the ACC. Wish I could have seen his face when they were dismantled and Pitt joined the ACC.

I post very little at DBR but for the limited time I have l read and posted it seems that hardly any trolls slip through. DJ anyone else that has posted there noticed this or is it just me because of not posting there much. OFC
