It actually wasn’t very close to a loss. From 5:50 on the win probability never dipped below 70%. Still should be considered a neutral court but these games a massive net win for Rutgers.
Exactly. They were intentionally fouling us for the last two minutes of the game. Hitting out free throws actually made it a relatively comfortable ending.

I mean last two times we played at the RAC we won by 20 + and 30 + against MSU but losing to MSU at half time and barely winning is great? Wtf!!

I’m starting to see a trend here and I think I’ve figured out the disconnect.

I don’t think anyone is knocking MSG. We’re knocking the circumstance.

Exactly…
Let’s go play St John’s next year
Or Fordham, Manhattan, Iona. If those guys can get a game there like the Redmen.

Play there every year: local team, holiday tournament, big time OOC.

I think the national exposure with one premier game at MSG worth it. Lots of folks think RAC is equivalent to a HS gym and think Rutgers can't win outside of it. MSG is polar opposite. Gives the team a massive national boost to show they can beat an MSU at MSG.
Tbh after today i kinda like the idea of one garden game a year. I mean not only do we have a clear home court advantage (today was like 90/10 RU) but we also are able to laugh at cuse, shu, and sju while doing so.

That game is ideally an out of conference game NEUTRAL COURT game vs a big time opponent like a baylor or gonzaga

Are you guys outta your proverbial mind? How close was this to a loss? Worst foul shooting of the year? Horrible shooting from the field? MSU got less fouls than RU at home. MSU intros. MSU fans at half court? We dodged the proverbial bullet. Never ever again!!!! At the RAC a double digit win.
Listen to pikes post game its obvious
He'd rather play in the Rac

What part don’t you understand? Or Pike rather play at RAC? Seriously? Undercuts all the nonsense.

C’mon ..he wants to play in the garden without giving up a conference game

And while I totally prefer our games in the garden be out of confrence game …do NOT underestimate the experience we got today playing in the type arena thsr the big 10 tournmwnt and the NCAA tournmwnt plays in

Different sight lines , different feel…-
And a greater experience in a win

We will better for this experience in the big ten tournmwnt and the NCAA ….

Don’t give up a conference game. Pike said as much. Non conference game in December is fine.

Double edged sword, looks incredible if you win, damaging cred if you lose. That said it looked like a tourney game, and other big time games we see on the regular on TV. Awesome environment. Gotta beat the big name program to get the “respect” we all crave.

Pike post game basically said/inferred rather RAC.

Ends all discussion.

The RAC is the best atmosphere in the country
I don’t know how any one can dispute that. Firmly believe not a close game at RAC today. Worst foul shooting of year? Poor shooting percentage? We got hosed on fouls again, no home court advantage. Lost a Quad 1 win?

Pike in post game almost directly said rather RAC/JMA.

Argument over.

Yea but there is a ton of upside to playing a big name OOC opponent at MSG once a year.

Big name opponents won’t come to the RAC to play us.

Today was a ton of fun. Atmosphere was great and we had 4,000-5,000 more fans in the house than we could have had at the RAC.

You need to stop thinking so small time. Rutgers is becoming big time and it’s a good thing - embrace it.

Giving up a conference home game at the RAC is idiotic.

Of course it’s a great place to play. And we’ve had success there with great RU fan presence over the years (ie B10 tourney). And I like going and the atmosphere.

BUT who in their right mind thinks it’s a good idea to give up a conference game at the RAC??? C’mon people!

I had fun today but honestly the atmosphere wasn’t close the RAC. With that said glad some fans who apparently can’t get into RAC were able to attend and it is very good exposure for us. I have no issue playing there again but it should be a non-conference game.

I’d be fine playing St. John’s there every year. Road game where we would have 10x the fans.

We sat in section 103. My ears were ringing after we left MSG. The atmosphere was very RAC-like in the second half. I was not in favor of playing this game in NYC this morning, but I’d sure feels great now. I’ve seen Rutgers play at MSG many times, and this was the best experience by far. It had a feeling that said “We’ve arrived.”

It was really crazy. I understand the preference for the rac but the last 10 minutes today. Wow. It was awesome.
