...and thinking Doncic and James look less than thrilled to be playing together? I'd swear I got Kobe and Shaq grudge vibes watching them purposefully not look at each other as they head back to defend.

I rarely watch NBA so maybe I'm wrong. We'll see I guess

I’m watching and didn’t come away with that at all. Lebron was even sporting a Doncic Laker jersey/hoodie before the game.

Lol! OK. Cool

I was surprised at what I mistook as two competitors trying to establish a pecking order. I thought Doncic was the perfect complement to James in many ways, when I first heard about the trade. Helluva deal

I know their defense is gonna suck with no AD. LeBron and Luka are the worst perimeter defenders in the league probably. I’m sure offensively they will look good though but it will be interesting to see if LeBron lets Luka dominate the ball.

They seemed like a good fit and Luka will get more efficient in a week or so. I'm a Lakers fan so hoping the Showtime returns.

Lequeef is showing a burst of enthusiasm with his new shiny toy, but that will fade as the season winds down. Luka still looked in a fog last night over the trade. I don’t believe he wants to be there, I don’t care what comes out of his mouth.
LeCharmin needs the ball in hands, Reeves (who is the only player on that team I like) has had the ball in hands lots due to his IQ and playmaking, Luka has played his entire career with the ball in his hands most of the time. On top of that you have two stars who play no D and spend way too much time flopping and whining to refs.
This will fizzle out quickly.

An 4 titles when he should have 7 or 8.
How you figure? He definitely has one that no one thought they would win. Against the Warriors. And maybe they should have beaten the Mavericks? So that's a wash there. His first finals was him and 4 ball boys against the Spurs. A miracle to get there. LeBron has been in the league what, 20 seasons? Made 10 finals. Just having LeBron on any team makes them a threat.

The Lakers defense for sure took a hit with this trade and it wasn't good before. That's why they wanted Williams. Jared Vanderbilt is a tenacious defender and rebounder. But it drops way down after him.

LeBron has been on the first team all defensive team 5 times. Plus one other second team. Runner up for DPOY twice. He can play defense. Some of his all time highlights are defensive plays. He does conserve energy on the defensive end now. But when needed, he plays it. Luca can't play defense. Nor does he attempt to play defense.

There is no way that trade was made without at least getting LeBron's input. If I were to wager I would bet that he had a hand in the deal's inception.

You are giving them excuses. Luka can’t play D. Like when he was born he was given a body that was 💯 unable to play d? Or he just chooses to not give effort and has zero dog in him on that end of the court?
Lebron won those years ago. I saw him show a burst last night against Jordan
Clarkspn, he dropped in a stance and clapped his hands and then proceeded to trip while cross stepping to stay in front and slide across the floor.
Like I said, this will have a short shelf life.

I'm not giving them anything. Luca doesn't play defense. It was a problem in Dallas. it's going to be a problem in LA.

That guy is looong gone. He’s still a star on offense, but he’s now a shell of the defensive player he was in his younger days.

He still plays defense when he wants to. He's still running down layups and blocking them. But not in the first 3 quarters.
