There isn’t a single argument that could legitimately be made for placing duke ahead of us. Absolutely none. And anyone that would argue other wise needs to be remanded to their nearest mental health facility
Yes there is. I can think of several.

#3 Iowa State plays at Iowa this week. And #4 Marquette plays at Dayton. Those will be two tough games.

Tennessee plays at Miami and at ranked Illinois. Auburn plays at Ohio State.

We could move up another notch or two next week.
I doubt Tennessee has much of a challenge at Miami. Arkansas beat them .

It seems like Duke is always the highest ranked team with whatever number of losses they have at the time.

And my daughter was 17 when she went to UK.

Several, no. The only arguable one is McD’s AA talent.
This is in general and has nothing to do with Duke except #3.

1. Is the voter thinking about today or end of seasons likely potential.

2. Is the voter thinking about a 1 game meeting or a 'best of' situation.

3. How much "credit" are they giving Duke for missed minutes by Maluach and James down the stretch in the second half. Maluach was giving us fits and his cramping up was very good for us. Then James shoulder injury took away any good low block players they had. Its just basketball but I can see a voter thinking about that.

I don't agree with it but I can see the argument as Duke beat the best team in America on prime time tv.

What's more of a injustice is Kansas only slipping 9 after getting destroyed by two unranked teams in a week.
To be fair if a lot of other teams had not lost they probably would have slipped further just like we would have. So many teams below them also lost 1 or 2 games as well.

I asked this on the other Thread about this week’s Polls, but this may be the more appropriate one to discuss it.

I know Auburn has beaten 3 highly ranked (at the time they played) opponents (Houston, Iowa State, UNC), 2 who were Top 5 at the time. But Auburn lost to Duke, yet stayed at #2 in the AP Poll. Their win on Sunday was by 44 points to 4-5 Richmond. Is it because their loss was to Duke that they stayed #2 in the AP Poll? Does that seem right? If Auburn’s win versus Iowa State on 11/25 is causing them to be ranked higher than Iowa State, then I think our win over Duke should matter in that regard, as well. Thoughts?

It's why the polls are irrelevant
I agree. I think Duke’s bump in the polls was “over-enthusiastic”. I also don’t get how Auburn stays at #2, but whatever. You guys are playing like a #1 seed.

This is just week 6. I understand that you guys have finally got a real coach. And he’s been able to get a _really_ good team together. But I have to ask…

Why go full on Ric Flair now?

Sorry… not directed directly at you.

I agree with your comment on early polls and I agree with most of the BBN that Duke should not be ranked higher.

Just not worth getting worked up about. I’m assuming that Pope will keep the team on track and the Wildcats will keep executing. Being agitated at this point is too exhaustive.

Agree. Not really worried about the rankings. Just want UK to keep progressing.

Dook will continue to rise in the polls. KY will play 8 ranked teams before Dook finally plays a ranked team on February 8th.

Just so you know, the voters can vote by whatever metrics they want. They are urged, but not required, to use the following methods.

"They are urged to base their votes on performance, not reputation or preseason speculation; to avoid regional bias, for or against; to pay attention to head-to-head results"

That is straight from AP. So, again, how am I wrong? I'll wait.

Lol

It’s called bias and favoritism.
Been happening for literally decades.

Go google that and see what the real reason is.

I hope Duke and Gonzaga are awesome the rest of the season and they're both #1 seeds.

It will only help our resume.

By the way, how nice is it that Pope's already gained a win on Kansas?

The man is brilliant.

So you either can't back up what you said or you don't understand what we're even talking about. Got it.

Just so you know, the "real" reason, which you couldn't actually know without asking the voters, is irrelevant to what I was posting. The new guy said there couldn't possibly be any other reason other than Duke love. I gave 3.

For some reason you said I'm wrong. Since my list is possible I can't be wrong. Those are in fact possible reasons. I never said it wasn't bias and favoritism. Now run along and work on your reading comprehension.

I already posted it, smart-***. Your limitations are your problem, not mine.
Didn’t reply to mine and I ain’t searching for garbage.

Don’t care what you posted, you’re a complete moron to think there’s an argument for Duke over Kentucky. The head to head literally cancels every other single thing out when UK also has a better record.

If you’d like an address to your nearest trillium center let me know. Don’t do anything crazy

Just last year, this was not true. Take any poll after January and there were several teams ahead of Duke with more losses.

Yeah, the media is biased toward Duke, so why is anyone surprised? Who won the game, though? UK. So, I don't really care. I know the truth.

Also, I don't mind not being ranked higher. UK already has a huge target on its back. I don't want it bigger yet. I expect we'll go higher at some point, and probably lower also. Those wins over Duke and Gonzaga will keep this team highly rated all year.
