Apathy is More Damaging Than Anger

Two games into the season and I simply don't care anymore. For over 50 years I've cared enough to at least be angered by the 4th quarter meltdowns and the last second losses. To keep watching and/or going to games.

Not anymore. After the completely inept loss to Vandy, the roll-over-and-play-dead losses to UL and Southern Miss and whatever that was today...I simply have no interest in watching UK football until they bring in a new coach.

And I hate this most for the kids who elected to come play here....

This is where I'm heading closer to every day. Been a fan for 40+ years and the apathy is really sinking in on me.

I said in the game thread that I felt like a beaten dog, to the point that every game day I'm wincing every play from the anticipated disappointment I'm getting ready to receive.

Truly sad.

I have to completely agree. I'm not even pissed about Barker losing his will to fight after that first sack, or Edwards being the worst safety in the country, or our vaunted state of the art conditioning program not being able to keep players from cramping in the first quarter, or the D-line getting pushed back on every Qb sneak, or Stoops assuring us they'll work harder, or seeing UK dump money into new cutting-edge facilities for the same lousy results, or Louisville going from the verge of dropping football to considering UK a cupcake, or any of it. I've been watching this string of nearly uninterrupted garbage for over 40 years.
Call me a bandwagon fan or microwave fan, but 30+ years without a winning SEC record and now beyond incompetent football has sapped my desire to watch anymore. I'm not saying I could do any better, but UK is paying someone to do better (Stoops) and someone else not to try and do better anymore (Joker).
I go back to the 0-10-1 days, but I can't ever remember being this discouraged or apathetic about UK football. I was solidly behind the Stoops hire, but I was as wrong about him as Mitch Keep fighting the good fight, but I'm taking a break from it.
