Would the gun grabbers prefer people under 21 shoot people with something else? The murders are not about the weapon, they’re about mental health and bullying. I abhor what’s happening, but our elected officials are focused on the wrong issues.
Parents and school officials should be held accountable when a kid is obviously a threat and they do nothing to intervene.
Gun crimes should be punished to the fullest extent possible, but law abiding citizens should not be penalized
Should Ferraris be banned because speed kills? Who NEEDS a car that can go 200 mph??

Bullying should be a hate crime ( no matter who’s being bullied), and those punks should be punished…misdemeanors at least…felony for repeat offenders
Alternative schools could be made available for the kids that are “different “ and allow them to voluntarily go there if they wish.

Wouldn’t these kids eventually get out of alternative school?

All kinds of semi-automatic handguns and rifles you can get at your local sporting goods stores and gun shops. Are they going to ban all those too? What about shotguns?

Guns are not even close to the top cause of death. If these politicians were so worried about us peasants and really wanted to make a difference why are they not outlawing Cigarettes, Smokeless Tobacco, Alcohol, Liquor etc. People die of more cases of cancer, heart disease etc. than anything

Apples and oranges! The harm from tobacco and alcohol is self-inflicted. The harm from school shootings is not.

And, for the record…I do NOT want more gun restrictions. Just pointing out the fallacy in your argument.

I wouldn't ban any particular type of weapon that isn't already banned. But it would be next to impossible for an 18 year old high school drop out to legally buy an AR-15. It would be impossible for an 18 year old high school drop out to show up at a gun store and legally leave with an AR-15 the same day. Owning a gun, especially something with the destructive capability of an AR-15, is a big responsibility. Only responsible citizens should be allowed to legally own them. That means checking your education, employment and credit history, references, etc.

I get that but guns are the easy out. You take guns away and people will use other means such as machetes, knives, vehicles etc.

Only thing you accomplish by taking guns from law abiding citizens is what you had in Ukraine when Russia invaded. No country will ever try to invade America because they know we are the single biggest armed military in the world.

Bet Ukraine citizens regretted giving up their guns. When Russia invaded the Government wouldnt let males leave and the Government was trying to pass out weapons out on the streets.

I am really having trouble drawing the connection here. Ukraine has a large cadre of trained reservists and are currently fighting like hell against an invader much bigger and militarily stronger, at least on paper, and are inflicting large unexpected casualties on the Russians. One retired Russian general publicly stated Ukraine can put 1.000,000 soldiers in the field.

So how do you get that Ukraine is weak because everyone did not have a rifle in their closet. Just don't see your point. Whatsoever.

Yeah, that's exactly the point. It's a hell of a lot harder to kill 20 kids with a knife than with a gun. Other countries have attacks with the weapons you mentioned and a lot fewer people end up dead or injured.

Every other European country has bullies, and crazy people, and broken homes, and social media, and atheists, and violent television shows, and violent video games. We have more guns than people. They don't. We have mass shootings. They don't.

Mass Shooting happen everywhere. Actually one of the worst mass casualty events happened with the person using a sword, machete or knife. Would have to go back and read the article about it again but it wasnt a gun. You are also seeing a lot more incidents of people driving vehicles in to events killing several people. A mentally unstable person will find a way. Even a couple of 9mm's in a pocket could knock off 20 people easily. What next are you going to ban all weapons that arent single shot? No they will not stop until all guns are banned

How did the shooters who were under 18 get the weapons? A law is not going to stop someone from getting a weapon if they want it. Same goes for criminals. There will always be avenues to get a gun.

It really pisses me off that I'm not able to own a tank. That's some ********. It's just a weapon. Why can't regular people like myself own a tank if they want one?

Fighter jets too, with the new Top Gun movie. No reason an average citizen shouldn’t be able to drop $100 million on a fighter jet if that’s what they want to spend their money on. Probably only cost a few more million to fully arm it.

If you want to buy a tank and laws are stopping you, I’ll fully support changing the laws so you can spend how ever many tens of millions you’re looking to burn. Same with nukes. I see no reason why you shouldn’t be able to spend your hard earned tens of millions on one.

I think we should ban aircraft. After all, children have been killed in aircraft crashes & you really don't need an aircraft to travel. To be 100% safe, however, we should also ban all other forms of transportation as well, automobiles, trains, ships, horses, donkeys, motorcycles, bicycles, tricycles, etc., etc.

Personally, I just want mass shootings limited to a point where it's not a weekly occurrence in what we consider the greatest country in the world. You seem a bit more concerned with some nonexistent gun ban created by the mysterious "they" that isn't going to happen. Stop the scare tactics.

Just essentially saying evil will find a way like we're living in Jurassic Park isn't a solution.

I agree guns are the 'easy out', and if you take them away bad people will find other means to harm others.
But I believe the point about wanting to ban automatic weapons, or at least restrict who can have them, is to reduce how many people a bad person can hurt at one time. If a bad person walks into a school with an automatic weapon and lots of ammo he/she could kill dozens; but if the bad person walks in with as many knives and machetes as he/she can carry, you may only be talking about a handful of casualties.

Hyperbole much? Everyone wants mass shootings to end except the idiots doing the mass shootings. First if you do not think this will be just the first wave of gun bans then you are some kind of stupid. Politicians do this with everything just to get their foot in the door which then leads to breaking the door completely down. See the push for years to get Medical Marijuana started. If you care to listen to a lot of the Democrats and Liberals you will find numerous statements of them wanting to take our guns. It is not scare tactics and for you to say it isn't going to happen is just ignorant. You have no way of knowing that or backing it up

The law already imposes an age limit (18 or 21) on buying guns. Why isn’t that a 2nd amendment violation? Shouldn’t a 5 year old be permitted to buy a gun if they want one?

I don't know how true this is. Both sides of the aisle won't agree on gun control, but it's probably at least part of the solution. I hear Democrats at least proposing solutions. I hear Republicans saying "now's not the time for politics" and proposing nothing. Or saying it's not a gun issue it's a mental health issue, while cutting mental health funding. Or blaming broken homes and poverty and then cutting programs that help the poor. Republicans claim it's not a gun issue, but I have yet to see a single solution from one of them that addresses what they claim are the actual causes of mass shootings.

Surely if it was an issue of poverty, or mental health, or broken homes, Republicans would be in support of funding programs that address those issues. But they're not. Abbott blamed mental health but cut the state's mental health budget by $200+ million. I don't think a single Senate Republican was in favor of renewing the increased child tax credit, which drastically reduced child poverty last year (you can blame Manchin all you want, but if just one Republican would have voted for it it would have been extended). Trump blamed mental health for shootings but his budgets called for cutting mental health funding.

If Republicans really think these shootings are caused by mental health issues it's about time they put their money where their mouth is and start funding mental health programs. I guarantee you 100% of Democrats in Congress would vote to fund that.

Here is my stance on that issue. We are taxed way to much as Americans as it is and your solution is more social programs that we will be taxed to pay? Not a fan.

Now if you can get the Democrats and Republicans to quit sending so much of our tax dollars over seas by the billions to countries that in most cases hate us and then divert that money to your said programs then I am open to that. But please don’t throw stones at Republicans when it is mostly Democrats who want all these social programs and want to send all that money overseas while we have all of these mental health issues here at home, veterans homeless and who can’t get medical care, homeless camps in all these Liberal cities, drug crisis all across the US because Dems don’t believe in secure boarders or following the law in place for immigration but they do want to legalize Marijuana.

We can throw stones at the hypocrisy in both parties. Point is we should be putting our resources and money in securing our borders and taking care of our own first. Bottom line. Sad thing is we as Americans don’t seem to think for ourselves and vote that way to fix the problems. We either identify in most cases as a Democrat or Republican and pretty much vote that way regardless of candidate. And even in our hearts when they push something you know isn’t right we still attach to that party and dig our heels in.

Politics in general in America is broken and if we leave it up to those crooked over educated idiots America will just keep getting worse.

Personally, I’d like to have the government implement universal background checks, the most obvious solution to 92% of Americans. Very few conservatives I talk to disagree that we need to limit who can own guns-if you’ve said you’re going to shoot up a school and fail a follow-up psychiatric evaluation, you can’t own a gun. Sorry, but you can’t be trusted.
Florida’s red flag law has already saved hundreds of lives. They’ve had dads that wanted to shoot up schools disarmed, domestic violence prevented, and I don’t hear anyone complaining about it. Stuff like that should be implemented. It still gives most people the ability to buy whatever guns they want, but it keeps guns out of the hands of people who have a good chance of killing people with them. Where the line would be drawn is obviously abuse of the enforcement of those laws and we would need an appeals process, etc. If we have the right safeguards implemented, it would save a lot of lives and satisfy most Americans. It would also signal that we can sometimes depend on our elected officials to solve problems, when we really have a need (not really been a thing since the 90s).

Interesting point. Twice as many people die in car accidents each year, than are killed with firearms of all types. That is excluding suicides.

If death were the actual boogy man we wanted to protect ourselves from, then why not make 35mph the maximum speed for all cars? Keep joggers and bikes off the road and the deaths will plummet.

It's not about the death. It's about the control.

There is no "first wave of gun bans" happening. Nothing happened after Sandy Hook and nothing is going to happen now. This will continue because we've decided as a country that we don't want to deal with it. After every mass shooting, we go to our corners and say the same **** we've said before. For you, that appears to be the tired "they're going to take my guns this time!" line. No one cares about your arsenal. We all just want this to stop being so frequent, and if responsible gun owners want to only make this a mental health issue, then put politicians like Abbott on blast for cutting his state's funding for mental healthcare. As a society, we've become backwards. Abbott cuts mental health funding, urges citizens in his state to buy more guns because Texas wasn't number one in gun sales, and then when children are slaughtered, he wants to solely focus on mental health, even though he had already decided to cut funding for it. Talk about putting oneself in a political pretzel just to keep a good rating with the NRA.

I care about my Arsenal and protecting my family if some bastard decides to break in. I don’t care if you care about my Arsenal or not.

You are just another Democrat or Liberal who wants to point fingers at Republicans and dig your feet in.

Why do you not throw a fit at Democrats for not securing our border? More drugs come across that border everyday that kill and destroy more lives than guns ever will. More rapists, murders, gang members etc. come across that border every year that do more harm than guns ever will.

Democrats and Republican politicians are to blame for most all of our messes.

I agree with you 100%.

Mass shootings and school shootings have become WAY too normalized in the United States. We have mandatory active shooter training in our grade schools.

We are literally raising generations and generations of children who are living under the specter of daily gun violence in all corners of our society. They are looking to adults, and the adults are doing nothing. No working together, no compromising, nothing.

When these kids get older, can vote, and run for office, they will remember those that did nothing. Might be better to be okay with mandatory waiting periods, raising the age of purchase to 21, etc NOW instead of watching all these kids vote to take your ARs and 9mms in a decade or two.

The more some people sit on their hands and won't engage in some small gesture of a mitigation law, the worse you will be when more Sandy Hooks and Uvaldes happen. And they will happen. And there will be a day when we'll have our very own Justin Trudeau-esque President issuing an executive order to take your gear.

And Chicago will still continue to be an embarrassment that no one wants to address.

You're not making inroads with people here by bashing the NRA.

If the powers that be really wanted to make these shootings less frequent, they'd allow teachers to arm themselves and harden schools, instead of what Biden just admitted this week - that he has no intention of hardening schools.

Your people WANT more school shootings. They get off on it, because then Schumer & Co. get to grandstand on camera while dancing on the graves of the children whose deaths he enabled.

Yup, just like the NCAA and paying athletes. They sat on their hands and acted like “well nothing can be done” and now it’s mayhem with NIL and transfers. There are very easy and obvious ways to slow this down that politicians simply won’t do.
