In Somerset in the '80s and '90s I spent countless quarters at The Pirate's Cove in the mall. Wal-Mart, Pizza Hut, Mr. Gatti's, and the skating rink also had some great games.

When my dad was going to grad school at EKU during summers, I'd sometimes ride to Richmond with him and hang out at the arcade and the comic shop that were next to where the Peddler's Mall is now. I can't remember the name of either.

How many arcades does Kentucky even have left? What are/were your favorites?

Aladdin's Castle. Fayette mall and Crossroads locations.

Get some Chick Fila and Sir Pizza in between sessions, respectively.

Edit: I was corrected that it was Tonys at Crossroads. Thanks to @Zakk Wyldcat for exposing my early onset dementia.

Now about that Aladdin's Castle at Crossroads...

My grandparents lived in Somerset near the mall (we lived in Campbellsville) and when we visited they always took us to the pirates cove. Unfortunately my grandma passed this year and I hadn’t walked into that mall in 10 years and there it was.... I don’t recall if the name was the same but there’s definitely an arcade still there.

I love to go to The Burl Arcade just off Manchester. Good selection of pinball and arcade games. Good bar. Usually a food truck in the parking lot.

Wildcat Arcade was on my way from apartment and campus. Would make many stops to warm up during the winter walks. Drop a couple bucks and play some Guns N Roses pinball.

Before that, Copper Dragon arcade in Greenville gave a token for every A which I poured into Tempest and Dig Dug.

RecBar in Louisville has all the classic arcade games and a pinball room with maybe 60 or 70 pinball machines from all eras. Great place to play games.

I played the miniature golf course at the one in Oxmoor Mall about 100 times. I can't remember the name right now.
Putter's Park on the second floor. I'd occasionally get some free pinball and access to the golf course because a good friend worked there in the 70's.

Oh the fond memories of when I was a kid. We'd go to the mall in Owensboro, my mom would give me a DOLLAR and let me go to Aladdins Castle while she shopped. And that dollar always lasted.

Oh yeah. I remember wandering around the arcade hoping other guys would play the games I was interested in so I could get a feel for it before wasting any of my tokens.

One time when I was about 8, my little brother used his last token to intentionally lose so I can beat the last character on Street Fighter 2 because I had never been to the boss levels. That was an act of good Christian sacrifice right there. He could have given me $100 and I would have been less excited.

Good ol’ Aladdin, spent many of allowance/paper route money there, loved the OXO pinball machine. I remember Bloomington, Ind having a 2 story arcade, pinball players paradise. I still get tempted to buy my own one of these days.

Dream mf’n Machine, bitches. No other in town could touch it.
No question. I always thought Aladdins Castle was a money grab. They were the first to go to tokens and charge 2 in some games. Tony's was always a quarter, at least for as long as I can remember. Tony's also had the "jean jacket" crowd so you could play a game for a quarter, bum a smoke and maybe even score a sixer all in the same night even if you were only 13. Not that I would have ever..

It's rare to find arcades anymore that aren't 90% win tickets to redeem for trash prizes games.

I've been searching for a fully loaded MAME cabinet that is priced right for a long time. I have a massive emulator / ROM collection but I don't have the time to build a nice cabinet myself.

River Fall was awesome. We had Aladdin's Castle and Tek World in Louisville that I frequented a ton. My buddy and I used to cut a few lawns for 10$ each and we'd cut them together one the front yard the other the back and we'd split the 10$ and hit the arcade with it. We'd make the 5$ last 5 hours. To quote the boss "glory days"

Be glad you don't have an arcade lke days of old...

I take my nephews to one occasionally and blow through like 50 bucks in 10 minutes... even with inflation that's ridiculous, in my day 20$ of quarters weighing my pockets down could last me the whole day...

Arcades where you can pay a flat fee for a time frame are fine. I've gone to places like Gameworks and plopped down $20. Yeah it's crazy compared to when I was a kid, but it's also nice that if I find a game that sucks, I can just walk off and not feel like it's a waste.

Also they sell beer.

16-Bit Bar in Cincinnati has some great games and they're free to play as long as you are drinking.

I once traded a $7 Tennage Mutant Ninja Turtle for $30 in arcade tokens in the 2nd grade, my mom made me trade it back the next day.

Use to be one by Memorial. Corner of Rose and Euclid.
You could come out of there with a case of black lung.
