Are there any winners associated with this program?

Coach is a loser. Assistants are losers (save for the DC). Players are losers. Our former AD, responsible the loser coach, was a loser. Far too many of our fans are losers. I bet we'll have a mostly full stadium for our game next Saturday, with fans dutifully showing up to "support the team". We've got fans vehemently arguing against looking for a new coach b/c they truly believer Beamer is the absolute best coach we could find. It's patently absurd on the face of it, but some actually believe that.

Our new AD is on the clock to show if he's a loser too.

I was a Scholarship donor for many years and when we lost to The Citadel I stopped spending a dime on this program and glad I did.
Thanks to Ray Tanner we’re in this for the long term unless some big time donors come up with the $ to send him on his way.

Nope. You are the only one with a winner's mentality and you're the only one with all the solutions to our problems.
There are a few here. @lurker123 @sclawman77 and some others. But few and far between.

And, yes, I honestly believe I have some pretty obvious solutions to our problems. I am 100% confident I could do a WAY better job than our administration has up to this point.

Given Muschamp and then Shane, i think its obvious our former AD did not have a winners mentality.

Does the new guy?

As for us posters, its not even that hard to point out the glaring mistakes that this current staff has made.

Firing the OL and then the OC mid season are admissions of mistakes, imo. I wonder if there's one more firing this year to clean up another mistake.

Dude get a grip. This is an ultra competitive league. Carolina is not a complete enough team this year to compete at the top. Still, you see these guys on the road against a #3, undefeated team almost winning. Player retention is everything right now. Rowe, Murph, Fred Johnson, Swain, Surratt, Cisse, Stewart. I could go on for a little bit here. Pick some random big ten bottom dweller and they absolute Do not have talent like that. The offensive line (especially) center has plagued the team and there are other weaknesses, but this is a talented roster. Nick Harbor breaking away on that 80 yard run was a sight at his size. Fred Johnson and Dylan Stewart are both sophomores still, surrounded by a lot of good defensive backs if they come back next year.

Some good points, but you started by saying we cant compete "at the top". We have failed to compete for bowl eligibility.

I think what bothers a lot of people is that they're not worried about competing "at the top", but wanting to compete in the middle somewhere.

Tanner made some questionable hires, but I do believe he had a winners mentality while serving as HC. If having successful HC's in football at SC, then we have had several bad AD'S.

Tanner was a legendary baseball coach and a forgettable AD.

Yeah, he was a great HC. That did not translate to AD, imo.

Although I've seen it argued that his money raising was his primary goal as AD, and that he was quite good at that.

I do think the head coach is a loser-but not the players. Carolina has been had a losing football culture for as long as they've been in existence. It's something we just cannot shake-call it the "Chicken curse" or whatever.

In football, you really can point the finger right back at ourselves.

We hired Muschamp, RIGHT after he was fired by Florida from incompetence.

Then we followed that up by hiring Beamer, a TE coach that not a single school in the country was interested in.

Yeah I don’t care about competing in the middle. 6-6 or 4-8 makes no difference to me. Beating Clemson would still be sweet.

I will not be hard on Donati, YET. I want to give him a chance. He inherited the mess of a Head Coach (and I use the word "coach" loosely) we have anchored on this football program. BUT, I am watching Donati closely.

That is true-we're our own worst enemy. I agree that the lazy hire of Ray for AD is what has created our issues for the last ten years in football and decline in baseball. I thought Hyman and McGee (hired Brad but also hired Fogler and Lou) were good AD'S. But before that we made another disaster internal AD hire in King Dixon who hired Sparky and Newton. Our administration is hellbent in continuing our losing ways it seems.

I know some Gamecock fans say they like Shane Beamer as a person. Honestly, I do NOT. It's not because he acts as a buffoon during games. It's because he is so thin-skinned when asked tough questions. He is a jack-a$$ during some question and answer sessions. I hope the sports media will ask him the tough questions regarding his game management yesterday. The guy gets paid $8.1 million/year. Dammit, he needs to be a man and honestly answer the tough, difficult questions and not act offended when asked.
