Are we really going to have to suffer through a 3rd year with Pope?

You know …. I don’t mind being called Cletus if you’d just take your avatar pics back to the good ol days. You were on top of your game. Step it up. 😂
Lmao idk, man. That one troll keeps saying she’s “chunky”! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

EDIT: I did lmao at your reply. Was a good one. Was honestly expecting to get a lashing. The way the board has been lately.

The problem is if he has like 12 law season next year did year one and gets to a sweet 16 I don’t think they’re gonna fire him. I think that we’re in a hole with this guy because all he has to do is be average if he’s average then maybe he can stay in that job for 5-6-7 years consistently average meaning win a game guess sweet 16. Even in a year four maybe get an elite eight you know where a rough regular season this is the problem with Pope he’s not a bad coach. It seems bad for Kentucky because of his results if he were coaching at most football schools. It. If he’s coaching in Utah or out west, he’s got a shot. If he switches over the women’s basketball, he hasn’t even better shot. He’s never gonna meet the standard UK basketball he will constantly consistently 12 losses tough schedule maybe sweet 16 if you’re at BYU UK man he doesn’t get it. The guy is freaking tone deaf to the in the farthest degree two side and you know Hakeem is.

Yeah, I mean, if he goes to the Sweet 16 his contract gets extended a year. So we’d be looking at extending his contract and firing him at the same time. 😂 Only Mitch.

Apparently Pope really sucks as a basketball coach. I just have one question. If Pope really sucks as a basketball coach how did he manage to beat two Hall of Fame coaches this past year and one was on their home court and Tennessee twice who is in the Elite 8? Im not a Pope fan either but my son who is a Pope fan keeps bringing this up and I don't have a good explanation for him.

Yeah it’s amazing how much an opinion can change in one season, building a fresh team in April going out and winning multiple big games winning a tournament game. Now one disappointing injury plagued season later he’s on the chopping block.

Yup. We will continue to delay the inevitable. Pope will go something like 21-12 again with another second round exit.

assuming the loser can even get a recruit in here

He hasn't done anything that impressive n all his seasons as a coach.

I keep seeing snide comments about a group of people on here being "Pope pumpers". Why is this so hard for so many of you to understand? Is this a learning disability, or some other mental issue?

Nobody here, not me, not Monday, not Cowtown, not Cowboy and not Village, are Pope pumpers. Do we want Pope to succeed? Yes, but not because we are Pope groupies, it's because he's the current coach in place and him losing, means our program takes another step back.

Yes, we WANT Pope to win, but every one of us has said, he gets a 3rd year to prove himself. All I can hope for, is next years team doesn't suffer catastrophic injuries like the first 2 did. I want no excuses. Next year is put up, or shut up and leave.

Firing Pope now, would be an awful look for UK. The injuries and last years sweet 16 would be used against us and it would be very loud. Not to mention, Pope is one of ours, firing him in this circumstance, is a terrible way to treat one of your own.

This is on Mitch, he is the one that put us in this position. He is the one that should be answering for this.

The issue I foresee is, what will the new AD do if Pope loses 10 games, comes in 4th in the SEC and makes the sweet 16. Does the new AD let him go? Maybe it depends on how many of those 10 losses are blowouts and how badly we got beat in the SS.

I think it's important to get an AD hired now and for that AD to make it clear to Pope what the expectations are for 26/27 and if those aren't met, he will be removed.

I'm hoping this season's failures happened because the locker room issues and the injuries more than Pope's inabilities. I really do think he lost this team early and never could get it back on track.

After the way he tried to compare himself to Cal and the way he talked all year is sickening.

Yes sickening - I cannot hear him say, "this group of guys" "progress" "their story isn't over" etc etc etc one more time
