Thanks to all! Crazy how different it is. Being close to an NFL stadium really helps the Gopher program. What I worry most about is being forced up seat donations.

My bad knees limit my walking and enjoyment as well so I don't see as much of campus or town like I used to on game days either. I'll try to continue to go to Penn State road games and as Wandering Spectator wrote make it part of a bigger trip.

I still have road games at Indiana, Minnesota, Northwestern, Oregon, Purdue, Rutgers, UCLA (although I did the Rose Bowl), USC and Washington to go in the Big 10.

I had to get up 37 times in UCLA game to get up and stand in the aisle to let people leave the row or come back to their seats… and we left after the 3rd qtr! The OSU game was worse

And when at least 75% of the games are go State beat blue hens, the value is diminished even more.

four of us (two couples) attended the OSU game in 2023 at Ohio stadium. We stayed in a Hilton Homewood Suite 2 BR unit. The cost was $300 per night and we used some Honors points to reduce $ cost. Breakfast buffet was included. There were a lot of good restaurants in the area for dinner.

Game tix were $175 each = $700 when we purchased early. Parking was $30 but there was a shuttle to the stadium from that lot.

we had done same in 2018 and costs were not much different. never heard of $1500/night unless it is 8 BR Air BNB.

The difference is that Columbus is a big city (15th in the US). There's plenty of hotel rooms, because the ongoing need is there. No one had trouble this weekend with both the NHL game at Ohio Stadium and the Arnold Classic in town. In State College, you cannot make money with lower prices when you only have about 10 weekends a year to do so (games plus graduation plus Arts Festival and move in/out). You just don't need that many rooms every day in State College.

I’m all about maximizing free enterprise. Hotels closing their doors after being nice to alum poors is an awful take

There is no reason to think that there won't be another Play-off run.

I got priced a while ago. Money isn’t the issue. There is no rhyme or reason for game times. That got me out.
