Dekker and Kaminsky were both lottery picks (first rd for sure if I am misremembering the lottery) but my guess is people forget that because they were both white. Wisky was elite, as you said. I'll never have anything but respect for the Harrison twins, don't care if Ulis should have played more. Not to mention, we still win that game if the shot clock violation is called. Poythress injury was huge, for sure, but I hate using injuries as a crutch. This is such an odd take for me. So Calipari is a bad coach because he blew a final4 game when he was undefeated.. yet, he got the team to 38 wins? So which is it?
Also, Wisconsin wasnt just "not a bad team", they were putting up some of the best metrics that decade. They were VERY good. Elite even.
Lastly, the Alex Poythres injury really hurt us for the Wisconsin game as we had no answer for Dekker and kaminsky hurt us. I just dont see how you can really dog a coach for losing a Final4 game no matter the talent he had. Which by the way.. turns out wasnt all THAT talented of a team: KAT is a great NBA player, Booker is too (but he was a freshman in a slump), thats about it. What many thought was a star studded team with lottery picks all around.. really wasnt.
The year may have been a "failure" (I don't think it was) but it was not a "bad year".
