Generally, from everyone's experiences with recruiting, what typically does a high school coach do to help his student-athletes get exposure to the next level? Are there any area coaches that are particular good at this?
What are some stories of things coaches have done to help their kids?

Well on the coaches end he should be replying to emails from colleges and sending links of game film and highlights (which the kid should make and coach should check) to perspective schools. Which is something the vast majority do.

Pretty much every school in this region has a coach who checks in and will ask if you have any players can play at their level whether you typically have D1 kids or not. Then you send video and they make a determination for themselves.

Don't underestimate the work parents and the athletes must do. It's all on the family really, coaches are not talent agents, contrary to belief.

Certain schools that have a history of success will get random college coaches to stop by or reach out to them. Even then there are some kids that don't fit the standards that a lot more work is required. Some coaches work a little harder than others based on recruiting is not a requirement to coach. Sure you would like to see your kids move on to the next level but, everyone should keep in mind that recruitment is not a requirement of any coach. If you have a coach that go the extra mile, be thankful of his efforts and assist in anyway possible.

It starts with having the grades and talent.
