So far 10 minutes in Arizona St can not play defense or shoot, Duke has a ton of turn overs. Bigs are really good but very young. If they turn the ball over at the rate they are now we will may do pretty good against them.

Dukes length is too much for this ASU team who keeps forcing the ball in the paint.

Dukes offense is ugly, but they definitely create a lot off their defense. Slow the game down, make it a half court game and they could struggle.

A lot of those 3 were open. Just not falling for them. Dukes length is bothering them but some of those are wide open looks.

Most of their misses were wide open shots

Duke has improved a lot since their countdown to craziness. It looks their emphasis and working hard and being coachable which was pushed by guest speakers: Coach K , Jay Bilas is paying off.
There are playing better defense and they start running certain presses and offenses schemes which seem to work . They have the length , athleticism and 3 points shooters to be special. If the play defense they will be the team to beat. Their weakness is going to be their bigs but they have enough size to compensate.

Awfully young though. The idea was you’d get two years of college out of him.

A year ago, when we were recruiting him with Cal, I was skeptical of this whole "he has to play 2 years of college".

And I stand by it. With loop holes and Gleagues and over seas.. there is zero chance he plays his 2nd year UNLESS he gets a **** ton of NIL.

Second half, Duke is on fire from three, their two centers brown and khaman are the only people you can sag off of. Still skeptical about their half court sets, but definitely going to have to guard them on the line.

They have at least 6 guys capable of shooting the 3 ( pretty much everyone besides the 5, 1-4 position. What they have we don’t have is the athleticism. We have more experience but they have enough between Procter , Foster and transfers from Syracuse, Purdue and Tulane.

It should be a fun game when Kentucky plays them, decided by team that can exploit better certain matchups.

Welp. On Wednesday I think it was Darren Headrick who said Pope’s staff times the seconds it takes our guys to get the ball across half court and it’s averaging three now and they want it lower. So I kinda hope there are some other options on the table.

Kentucky will be good, but sometimes you just gotta admit when a team is a bad matchup for your team. And on paper this Duke team is.

By the looks of it he shouldn’t be spending next year at Arizona State at least…sheesh terrible performance.

maybe not but this az st team doesn’t look much better than wesleyan—point being it’s hard to tell just how good teams are from exhibition games. i wouldn’t bet either way on the uk/duke game.
I know what to bet, bet the over! Both teams are capable of putting up a lot of points. Dukes defense looks more advance than UKs only because of their length and athleticism.

There are a bunch of ways to beat a team, you never know what will bother certain players and what won’t. I think we have a good chance. They are good but we ain’t nothing to scoff at either.
Could kentucky win sure. Kentucky is good, but Duke is in another group and is a bad matchup for Kentucky.

As good as Duke is, they made a whole lot of boneheaded plays that Arizona St was unable to take advantage of. A good shooting team of veteran player won’t waste those chances. I’ve watched a lot of these preseason games this year already. Duke is by far the best Defensive and offensive team I’ve seen. But they are like us, they haven’t played anyone with a heartbeat yet. Arizona St lost almost everyone from last years team and they are coached by Bobby Hurley. He ain’t that great of a coach.

I’ll put my trust in Pope over a goofy Scheyer. This isn’t Cal anymore and Pope is 100X the coach of Scheyer and Cal combined. Sick of the Duke lovers here.

Pope hasn't proven anything and neither has Scheyer. Two coaches that have a lot to prove at big time programs. I cringe when I read dumb hyperbole like this as well. 100 times the coach? Based on what?
