Just saw the highlights and on one of Michigan's final possessions, their big guy got it in the lane and took 4 or 5 steps with no call. Officiating is garbage.

Arkansas almost completed their meltdown at the end. They were up 76-60 with about 11 minutes to go. The pigs only scored 13 points the rest of the way. Michigan only ended up losing by 2.

Cal needed Fland to make huge plays most of the game. Arkansas won't make it past Sweet Sixteen.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before-

An uber talented Calipari coached team sprints out to a huge early lead and is cruising just after halftime, but for some reason, they slow the pace way down and try to milk the clock. They begin to tense up, miss a wheelbarrow full of free throws, and grind further until the score ties up. They require a couple of hero plays late to stave off the comeback victory.

Sounds vaguely familiar.

Cal needed Fland to make huge plays most of the game. Arkansas won't make it past Sweet Sixteen. They're just too limited offensively and it's kind of sad watching Nelly Davis take a backseat to Wagner.
They were down double digits in the first half too. Man, we would've been pulling our hair out this season.

Remember when this would happen over the past few years and the Cal boys would run to the board to gloat and proclaim we’re turning it around? That the LOD knew nothing.

Battle of the overrated coaches last night
Cal is overrated now for sure. Dusty? Remains to be seen. He's 8-2 at UM so far. Not an awful start.

Arakansas is actually pretty good, but they won’t take that next step until cal realizes that Nelly Davis and boogie fland should have the ball and be your best players, and not theiro and Wagner
The 3 times I’ve seen them Davis has been surprisingly bad. And Fland is their best player, he or Theiro leads in scoring. He took 18 shots last night.
I think their biggest problem, like many Cal teams is they don’t shoot well enough from outside. Don’t count on 2-3 (and a big toe away from 3-4) from Wagner often. Ivisic is their best shooter but is losing minutes now that Aidou is healthier.
The first 2 games I saw, I was surprised that I liked Richmond’s game (except he can’t shoot either), but he only played 1 min last night. But he defends well, plays hard, and can finish.
They will be middle of the pack SEC, which this year isn’t bad, so 2nd round team who could make S16 or 1st rnd loss

I care.

It’s an interesting story to follow. Especially when UK isn’t playing.

Lighten up, Francis.
This! We’re literally watching Back to the Future in real time with this Arkansas team. This would have been our team in Lexington as opposed to what we have. It’s human nature to be fascinated by the “alternate reality” subplot.

Who cares? No one cares who Arkansas plays or who they lose to or beat. Really no one cares .

You care enough to post about it. So do a number of the rest of us. If no one cared, no one would post about it.

So, if you didn’t care, why would you post anything? Do you need to control what other people do and think? What motivates you to comment on something you claim not to care about?

Seen this before. Look great one game, get beat by a crap team the next.

Arkansas looked pretty good at times last night. They were on fire from the outside and they needed every one of them.

Michigan had a nice comeback, but made some crucial mistakes at the end.
It was a fun game to watch.

For whatever reason, the SEC is struggling with the BIG10, so that kind of helped some. I think it's 5 games to 7 in favor of the BIG.

Note: I know, I know, some of you don't care about conference results, but I do and we should, because the stronger the SEC is in the metrics, the stronger our metrics will be in March. It matters.

Look if you're not playing some zone against Arkansas you're helping them win. 100,000%.

Believe me Michigan was helping them win by not playing zone more.
Cuz all they do is try to drive the ball to the basket because they can't shoot.
They won that game last night because DJ Wagner actually hit a three-pointer or two second half. Literally his little 10-point burst in the second half the difference in that game.

Im Sure we can count on one hand the times that will happen this season. If you're relying on DJ Wagner you're ******* screwed. And if you're allowing DJ Wagner to score points you ******* suck. Go look at what some of these defensive players have done to him this year......

Second round at best. This same coach took Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham, brought them off the bench all year long in favor of DJ Wagner, then lost to a middle aged accountant in the first round after refusing to game plan. Fland is great, and I always liked Adou, but that’s all they’ve got

Biggest issue I see, in typical Calipari style, is that his team stands around the perimeter and waits to late in the clock for the ball handler to create a shot. His players simply aren't talented enough to do that reliably.

I watched the last ten minutes. Cal/Ark pulled out a big win over top 25 team. Cal substitutes a lot, he's got a lot of talented athletes including 4 bigs. DJ and Bland get major minutes and everyone else is in and out so much it was hard for me to learn their names and must be hard for them to get consistency. Both DJ and Wagner like to drive first, but will put up 3's that clank in the final minute. He doesn't trust Z in clutch time. When it got really close with 3 minutes to go, both teams started making mistakes and missing shots, stepping out of bounds, turnovers. Not anything like our close-outs with Duke and Gonzaga.

I like our team, but ARK won't be a push over when we play them.

He started the year with a pretty significant wrist injury that I'm not sure if he's 100% recovered from yet. He looked legitimately awful in the first few games this year, but he's been getting better as I presume he gets healthier.

I watched a lot of it. Wagner was hitting 4’s and layups. One off fluke game!
Wagner is over 35% from 3 on the year and was only 2/3 last night. That's not a fluke. I dont know why people are acting like he's a 15% shooter who went 7/7 last night.

Arkansas is shooting better from 3 than we are as a team. It's a myth that they can't shoot and people keep repeating it because it fits their preferred narrative. Z, Fland, and Davis will all be 40%+ from 3 on the year. Wagner is above 37%. They can shoot it just fine, they just don't shoot a tremendous amount of 3s.

Like most Cal teams there’s a level of talent that on any given day they probably beat anyone. But they also can’t really spread the floor and the offense can bog down so they can lose to anyone too. Michigan trying to man up with them played into their hands imo.

And it was the opposite of how you feel a Cal team needs to play. Cals team of athletes need to fly around not be trying to get buckets at the end of shot clocks.

You sure sweet sixteen their coach is known for not even winning a game in the NCAA tournament the last few years.
