See what can happen when you have a successful, powerful smashmouth rushing attack? Schools become afraid to play you before the games are even played. TN spent money to not play Army. Having to play a physical team like Army that requires discipline on D to even have a shot at slowing them down is too much for TN.

The smartest thing that Nebraska can do no matter who the head coach is next year and beyond, have a physical, we will pound the living **** out of you by running the football and OL smashing and pushing your DL back all game long - it strikes fear in teams these days.

How many top 15 defenses does Army play this year, going by year to date stats? Asking for a friend.

Army will out TOP Chryst at his own game. That will be an interesting game to watch. But that really isn't the point of this thread.

So many programs these days are weak and having to play a team that can drive the ball down your throats strikes fear in them.

I think it was army behind us for decades at the #2 top rushing team.
it's been traumatic to see them take the #1 spot, to say the least.
the reason dr.tom went to the run in the late 70's, was because oklahoma was killing us
with the wishbone/4th quarter/clock control etc.

now 0u is pass happy as they want to be.
so we shalt see if frost can make the pass system work, time will tell.
if it does great if not, we can go back to the run.

Frost has the players to have a dominant rushing attack if he continues to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Change the way the OL blocks and they would be a lot better. Run the option more. Bring in 2 TEs and an extra OT on a regular basis. That opens up more room along the LOS than a 4 WR set with 1 RB.

But back to the point of the thread, these coaches who run these offenses where they try to get 125 snaps a game and 8 drives in one half are afraid to play the TOP, smashmouth rushing attacks since it interfers with what they want to do on offense.

I was reading what Oklahoma fans were saying and they were in shock we forced them to drive down the field in a 7 minute drive and by the time both teams had the ball once there were less than 2 minutes left in the first quarter and Oklahoma had as many drives in the entire game against Nebraska as they did in the first half alone in their first game. That is how you defeat these offenses.

Frost almost pulled it off. Hopefully the lightbulb went on during their flight home.

1 - Assuming Notre Dame and Michigan don't knock Wisconsin out of the top 15.

Army gave up 6 yards a pop on the ground to UConn. I am sure Wisconsin will get at least that much, so while they may lose the time of possession battle, they will win the game by multiple scores, probably close to 3 TDs. But hey, if Army didn't play option football, it would be a 5 or 6 TD deficit. Moral victories.

Army cut blocks, they are not really a physical running team but they are really good at what they do.
