I saw that, not sure what to make of it unless he was taken out of context
Then Jason Marcum ran with it to the point that he switched his vote to Kentucky on 247. Hope he got the full article and not the truncated versionYes he was. The question asked was about producing the MOST draft picks. Not best. Not favorite.

Longtime reader of this board (10+ years) however I've held back from posting as I felt I would spend too much time on here. I'll spare everyone my life story but after seeing the discussion on Wendell I decided to join and share a story. I'm a consultant so I travel constantly for work and found myself recently on a flight from ATL to RDU sitting next to Wendell and we sparked up a conversation. I won't give all the details but I'll pick out a few key points that stuck with me. I don't follow recruiting as much anymore (ever since the Harrison Barnes recruitment to be honest) so I actually did not know how highly touted the young man is.
1. He was flying in to practice with CP3 and then flying back the same night to make it to prom the next day (puts it in perspective a bit the efforts these young men make while still being kids).
2. I realized he must have been an impressive basketball player when he brought up the schools recruiting him - Duke, Kentucky, and Harvard were the three he mentioned. At the time he said that Kentucky's effort was minimal and that Duke was strongly recruiting him. Obviously Kentucky may be coming on stronger but he did not seem impressed with their academics.
3. He seemed to strongly care about academics and discussed really liking Tommy Amaker.
Most importantly Wendell was an extremely nice and humble young man who definitely seems to have his head on straight. I know at times we as fans villainize these kids when they don’t go to the school we want but my small encounter with this kid left me hoping he has a lot of success wherever he goes.
That being said I really got the feeling he did not care for Kentucky and would excel at Duke given his character but obviously I’m biased.
From what little I've seen in interviews he seems to have a good head on his shoulders; hope he does well wherever he ends up, though I certainly hope it's DukeLongtime reader of this board (10+ years) however I've held back from posting as I felt I would spend too much time on here. I just feel like he gets the best of both worlds at Duke: a great education and a chance at a FF/National Championship. At Harvard, he probably doesn't get out of the 2nd round. His choice, but that's how I see itNot that I want to lose recruits to anyone, but if some of those top players went to Harvard ... that would be fantastic, imo.
Would love to see Harvard's program develop under Amaker.
Trent going to Harvard? Doubtful, isn't it?If he's really a package deal, I'd see them getting to the second weekend.
I thought Carter was an unc* lock. OFC
The way recruiting has gone lately it definitely is a great time to get back in the game. Recruiting championships don't mean much to me though but Coach K does normally turn great recruiting into results. Also recruiting helps pass the time until the season starts. As for UK... they certainly have some bad fans but most fan bases do. I understand that UK is a competitor to Duke in basketball but other than that the schools are really quite different so when I see thoughtless posts by their fans I normally just ignore them - sometimes this is easier said than done. You might have to get back into this recruitment game after all wcaffman! Post more often. We need some good to counteract the UK nonsense.
Well stated. I find a lot of the stuff very comical. The way recruiting has gone lately it definitely is a great time to get back in the game. Kentucky fans don't even know where Harvard is, much less what colors they wear.Haha if you ask Kentucky fans they will say... Yeah Harvard wears Crimson and white while Duke and UK wear blue and white.
Prejudice much? They can look the colors up on the intranets with one of these new fangled things called a computer they just heard were invented![]()
