Ashe hasn't played since the 20th. This is not a good matchup for them coming off that break imo.

Yes they like to throw it and yes he will be running for his life. MA has had a short field to play on all season so far.

Atkins managed to beat Ashe his last 3 seasons at East if I recall. He'll have a good defensive plan drawn up to counter the Ashe air raid.
I aint a Randolph fan just got cousins in Ramseur and know what kinda team they got this year. I know MA got a real good ball team this year to but that chest thumping is outta control. Any year yall get on a good run beatin a bunch a sorry teams the lip starts up but at the end the day yall still go to the house crying when playoffs get down to the top dogs. Yall talk about speed speed well dont play anybody with any of it up there so well just see how it goes when you get out of the hills and play somebody with more.

1A West will be unreal…gotta win 5 to get to the ‘ship…will have to have luck, breaks & stay away from big injuries to get there
I've got family in Ramseur also this is ER first year in 1a and it may not be as easy as you think in 1a to win in playoffs Mitchell and Robbinsville Murphy and Mt Airy is no easy game Mitchell might be one of the tougher teams in 1a especially at there house no chest thumping here
I'll give the NWNC this; they have represented the 1AA west the last 4 years, but plowing thru scrubs doesn't make Mount Airy championship contenders. The Bears wont see anything resembling competition until the 3rd or 4th round of the playoffs, unlike Eastern Randolph or Mitchell, who have already played top notch competition, or Murphy and Robbinsville, who are tough year in and year out. Good luck to the Bears, and hopefully they stay injury/covid free so we can see what they are made of.
MA will not have any issues with Ashe, saw the week 1, QB is a pocket passer, can run but not super athletic. I thought they were way down from the year prior, believe they were replacing 19 starters

No, east and west are predetermined. ER is in the 1a west.
Have I missed something or didn't the latest update of the bill keep the NCHSAA around but with more oversight?
I was wondering that myself. Sure, they've got a good up and coming RB, but if no ones blocking, doesnt mean much... all 2 of MA's opponents are ranked in the 280's... not much to brag about.
The line for east/west for next 4 years is Randolph/Chatham border.

Going to be interesting matchups for sure. Also, as many games do in playoffs, could come down to where games are played.
And I don’t have any kinfolk in Ramseur.
But myself, wife and three children did attend ER.

that’s the intention to keep it intact but they (NCHSAA) will not agree to the stipulations…HS sports in NC is going to drastically change…but will it happens sooner rather than later
I'm extremely concerned with this. The state can't even pass a budget. I can't imagine what they'll do to sports.
Without veering off topic too much, we can't let the thought of charters moving up get in the way of the big picture here. We all want charters moved up, but we literally can't get a budget for our schools, we can't get nurses in every building, we have roting buildings, who knows where the education lottery goes, and the list goes on and on. The state needs to limit having their hands in this cookie jar as much as possible while setting guidelines to follow.
Plus what happens when a charter school is unhappy about getting moved up, so the powers that be that fund said school go to Raleigh, lobbies and slips a check into their Reps campaign, now all of a sudden we are back to square one.
Politics are already screwing our schools and everything else. Let's keep them out of high school sports.

They thought the same thing two years ago first round against West Stokes. We know how that went down. If Mt Airy and Randolph meet I'll go with the Bears. Especially if it's in Mt Airy.
A random thought. Went to Lenoir Rhyne University (Bears) vs Virginia State Univ on Saturday. LR 48 to 7. I should have been very happy but was not. LR, ranked 6 in nation D2, played at about 60% of what they should have. OK first game of year but they (the coaching staff) have had a long time to get the team ready.
Against Draughan and Surry Central, the Mt Airy Bears play at what I would estimate at about 90-95% proficient.
What is the difference? In my opinion, COACHING! Mt Airy has it. Some others have it also, however, many do not.

MA had less than 24 hours to prepare for Draughn because of a late cancelation by East Surry. Plus travel to Draughn.
Sbbfan, YOU ARE EXACTLY CORRECT. And Mt Airy played their game so well, so efficiently. Sometimes you do have to prepare for the other team, but I would suggest that the BEST Coaching Staffs prepare their team to play their own game first and foremost.. So far this season the Granite Bears have played "their" game to a very high level of proficiency.

It was 2nd round. ER beat Providence Grove 40-33 in first, lost 26-21 to West Stokes the higher seed. West Stokes went on to beat Mountain Heritage, the number one seed 28-22. Then West Stokes fell to Reidsville 63-13.
Not sure many outside of Ramseur expected ER to pull the upset that year especially with a freshman QB...
The best athlete to play at West Stokes Parsons plays for Lenoir Rhyne.
LOL...please dont tell MA fans about coaching...they have surely been crying about their current coach since Kelly Holder left...These fans do not appreciate good coaching..I don't care if Holder was there....it was just East Surry's time to shine...JK Atkins is and has been a very good coach for EW and MA the whole time. They just now are beginning to appreciate him at MA all of a sudden....LOL
