Some bluehairs/boomers are totally cool with Pope. Because he recruits Kentucky kids and puts "the jersey" in front of everything.
Pope does not create any buzz, nor does his program.

I'm fairly checked out. I'm busy enough lately that I have enough things to occupy my time, but the UK product is so bad right now I can't even care to tune in. Even for an intriguing guy like JQ and his development to become a dominant player... I'm just not invested. Sadly to me, that says Pope needs to go. When as a fan I'm not even interested in the product, that's a very very bad sign. Even Cal's worst teams gave me some hope and optimism.. this is just, low level basketball all around that has almost no chance to do anything in March.
Same boat here. Was hoping to have some fun watching this team and am not going to suffer through watching them collapse over and over again. Last night about 8:30 I had a moment where I thought “oh **** are the Cats playing? Did I miss it?” then I realized I honestly didn’t care either way. Which is a terrible sign for where he has the fanbase. Especially when you consider that people that post here are probably some of the biggest fans possible.
It's almost like when a coach loses the lockerroom (which he sort of has also)... when the fans start to become apathetic, it's close to the end. You can't really come back from that. You know, I really wouldn't mind if this team was playing hard.. and even if their lack of overall talent cost them some games, I'd be OK with that. But compared to our peers.. we have no talent, we aren't cohesive, we aren't doing the right things, Pope isn't making the right adjustments. I mean are we doing ANYTHING well?
I know this has been debated up down and every way possible but this change from year 1 to year 2 in Pope and his demeanor is one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen as a UK fan in 40 years.
It's crazy. Not so much his demeanor, but just his overall ability. He went from one of the hottest coaches last year, who many (including myself), thought should be COY.. to now just being almost a completely different coach.

I was one of those same people who was really impressed what he did last season (especially considering the amount of time he had to put the team together and the injuries that piled up), and thought the momentum carrying into season 2 would take it up a notch. It’s like the exact opposite of what season 2 should look like even on the most basic levels.
Can’t wrap my brain around it but honestly the whole world feels this way right now so maybe it’s just par for the course lol
I don’t think he’ll get fired year 2 so just hoping that whatever evil spirit the Annabelle doll put in him gets exorcised soon. This is where the team priest would be a good thing to bring back. I don’t care if he’s Mormon this situation calls for some holy water and some Latin incantations.
I agree. Wonder if the weight of the position and him knowing he may not be cut out for this is causing some type of nervous breakdown or messing with his head. He just seems so different than last year.
I’ll never forgive Pope for the showing in Bridgestone Arena December 5th. Never. That was so bad that’s a fired on the spot type of game/effort. I’ve never in my life seen UK be that bad. Ever.
Might be a long time but we will eventually hear what really happened with this team. Do I think we are a top 10 team no. We aren’t close to as bad as we’ve been tho. They can’t come out and say yea I hate my teammates but something is off.

IDK, Even if we CAN put it together at times, you are what your record says. And our record reflects not only losses but getting blown out. So CAN we beat a top25 team? Sure, if our head is in the game, but this team, and the coaching, seems to be mentally weak.
