We’re over the scholorship limit by 3 right now. Anyone hear who may be transferring? When is the deadline to get to 85?

We will know over the summer. Remember that Frost was going to meet with all of the players. That is when the attrition talk will happen. There will be a few that move on.

There will be some kids who leave in the next 2 weeks. They will want to get to their new schools before June so they can get in those summer programs.

Best guess is 6-8 more leave.

Are there any underclass walk-ons that Riley gave scholarships to that may not be renewed this fall? Rumor is out there that Decker could give up football.

Total speculation here, but this is the list I would expect them to come from:
Tre Bryant (possible medical)
Michael Decker (possible medical)
Jalin Barnett
We have a lot of TE's on scholarship so I would expect one of them possibly to transfer
We have a lot of LB's on scholarship (King, Ferguson, Roberts if he doesn't decide to work)
Keyan Williams- always injured
Ben Miles - positionless
Maybe a RB

Umm...Ferguson may be a starter or play a lot behind Gifford if he (Gifford) gets fully recovered

Keyon (and Keith) have been very supportive of Walters, so would be surprised if he is one gone

Conrad is the only walk on currently on scholarship, don't think he gets his taken away

He is right about all the LB’s on scholarship though. Have to wonder about guys like: Alexander, King, Jefferson. Even guys like Ward, Hampton, Miller that we have heard good things about. Can’t imagine they all stick around if they aren’t in line for PT.

Hopefully Matt Snyder moves on. I don't think he's going to play much in this offense, especially with 5 better Tight Ends on the roster.

I had really high hopes for Barnett but he was another that never worked hard enough to see his real potential

Yeah, Jalin Barnet thought he was going to be a beast. I don't know if he even saw the field in the spring game.

Local word out of Oklahoma was that he was lazy and benefited from being much larger and just mauling people. His lack of work ethic showed in college. He was a Riley recruit that he took because he was available to take. If those local schools near OU wanted him he wouldn't have been around for Riley to take.

Just another example of a two star prospect with a four star rating. Kids who mature physically at an early age and dominate on physical ability get higher rankings. Since Callahan, NU has had several of these types-- looks good on signing day, but that's about it.

We lose $128,000 per month in salary (BP) after February 2019. And another $166,000 per month after February 2021 (MR).

Don't disagree, but a lot of kids at that age are bigger than everyone else and are mauling them based on size. Look at the high school kid from Wyoming, Mullinax. If you compare the tape of Barnett and Mullinax they are eerily similar, except on was in talent rich Oklahoma and the other is in small class Wyoming. Yet, many people on this site and others were saying Mullinax looks like a beast and reminds people of Incognito.

If Mullinax were doing this in Colorado, he would be a 4 star, but we have no idea what his work ethic is or anything else.

How did he do?
I keyed on him a lot with my binocs. He looked slimmer and more mobile than he had been, but not as lean or mobile as the starters, he has a ways to go. His play appeared OK, but not dominant. I didn't see him get stuffed or beaten for a sack or TFL. There were several running plays where his man started to scrape off, so he reached out and IMHO was in danger of getting flagged for holding. He seems to need to work on his feet, body position and pad level. I believe several players need to have huge summers with S&C and assume he is one of them.

BTW - I have seen some articles and posts commenting on Hunter Miller not doing great at center, but I thought he did a fairly good job.

What year is Keyon going to be?

I believe he would've played a lot last year if it weren't for his injury.

Well....hell if I know. According to his bio on huskers.com it says 2014 redshirt, 2015 freshman year, 2016 sat out (transfer) 2017 junior year. Either somebody over there can't count or I'm missing something.

Also, is Keyon even on scholarship? I didn't think he was.

Nevertheless, he isn't going anywhere.

You get 5 years to play 4. He played in 15 and 17 and sat out 14 and 16. He has one year left and is most definitely on scholarship.

Farmer met with Frost and was told to prep to take over center. That tells me Decker has decided to hang it up. He wants to be a professor and will most likely go on medical or academic and off of football. Conrad might get mop up duty if injury calls for it, but isn’t much of a factor in this scheme.

Guy Thomas was going to transfer before it was announced Frost was hired. Dewitt convinced him to stay. He struggled in spring ball and is not in the 2 deep for playing time at OLB. Watching him in the Spring Game he didn’t seem to go that hard or give the intensity/effort the coaches want. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go. He just didn’t seem that motivated with how he was lackadaisically pursuing out there.

Ben Miles will not be used much. Didn’t even play in the spring game if I recall and I don’t believe Les was at the spring game. He could decide to look elsewhere. Ozigbo will get the call for short yardage before Miles will.

Pernell Jefferson is buried in the depth chart. Has some bad weight on him. Don’t think he sees the field this year with Tannor/Alston coming in and Miller/Davis/Ferguson/Gifford all ahead of him. Could he decide to look elsewhere? Does Sedrick King factor in when he gets healthy? Is he a likely candidate for transfer as well?

Bryan Brokop and Jalin Barnett aren’t going to see time at Nebraska. Do they stick it out to be part of the team anyways or transfer to play elsewhere?

Matt Snyder seems like he’s not a fit at TE for this system. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him go with the numbers we have at that spot. Plus McGriff/LeGrone are likely to grow into TE’s. Stoll/Allen/Rafdal make the 3 deep.

As for incoming freshmen... Frost said this week a few will not be here at the beginning of summer due to summer school for grades. Willie Canty & Maurice Washington are two of them. If you remember in the get to know you segments that Rivals put out after signing day those two had not yet met requirements. It is to be determined if they will make it by fall camp or not.

It's not gonna be easy for him. I don't see a ton of places for him to go. I wish him the best but finding a school that really uses the fullback and will have him sit out and then on scholly.

Dad has made enough money that he won’t need to go on scholarship. I think it will jut be a matter of finding a good fit which, as you say, will be no easy task.

Position switch if I were him and maybe go FCS Div 1 if he wants to try and stay on scholly. FB is a dying position/breed. GBR
