You know what should be a boon to Auburn's recruiting?Should be a boon to auburn’s recruiting. This is what we’re up against.
Much as I would like to claim 1994, it would just be pretending
I had my son design a 1994 PSU National Champions shirt complete with Rose logo a few years ago. He then put it on Redbubble or some other site and bought it for me for Christmas. I wear it proudly.Much as I would like to claim 1994, it would just be pretending
Kind of agree, but its better than Alabama's 1941 9-2 season that the article points out. Wikipedia says PSU has 2 claimed national titles and 5 unclaimed titles.Much as I would like to claim 1994, it would just be pretending
Bama's shenanigans on this topic are well knownKind of agree, but its better than Alabama's 1941 9-2 season that the article points out. Wikipedia says PSU has 2 claimed national titles and 5 unclaimed titles.
And Nebraska’s 94 “title” Is hereby designated as the “Tom Osborne Reach Around Title”Bama's shenanigans on this topic are well known
If fans want to view 1994 as a championship that's fine but PSU shouldn't anoint themselves with a pretend title
I had to look that one up and it turns out Alabama claims a share of the 1941 title because of the Houlgate System. I didn't know what it was so I had to look that up too. Their AP rank that year was #20 and they finished third in the SEC. Yeah, that's logical.Kind of agree, but its better than Alabama's 1941 9-2 season that the article points out. They do.Pitt finished 3-6 that year. I'm surprised they don't claim a title too.
We can start counting from 1982...Like the NFL has the Super Bowl era I think CFB should have a clear line of delineation. You can debate when that is but for a long period of history played an inconsistent number of games and didn't play people outside of their league etc.
If you had to select a legit NC era where would that sit? I am asking legit not real. We still don't have a real NC crowed but it is much closer. Would it really start in 1950?
Why? PSU was the best team that year. Perhaps the greatest offense in the history of NCAA Football.Much as I would like to claim 1994, it would just be pretending
I'm not sold on that. I think if both Penm State and Nebraska were undefeated that Osborne would have gotten the pity vote. Why? PSU was the best team that year. Perhaps the greatest offense in the history of NCAA Football.
if we were still independent and not part of Big10, we would have won the vote going away.
Auburn? LoL Amateurs!
Never forget that Pitt claims a national championship from 1918, when the team went 4-1. The loss was a thrilling 10-9 loss to the Cleveland Naval Reserves football team.
Penn State didn't, the New York Times did, big difference. I'd have no problem if they did, it was a Beauty Pageant back in those days anyway.Bama's shenanigans on this topic are well known

Say what you will, guy is one of the greatest ever and we would have loved to have had him.PiT stole the 1976 NC with the total moron Tony "Hot Knutz" Doorstop.
An illiterate azz
Nebraska was damn good, but they were just waiting to give Uncle Tom his first title.I'm not sold on that. I think if both Penm State and Nebraska were undefeated that Osborne would have gotten the pity vote.
We were the best offense of all-time though and, for me, we absolutely were the best team. Would have loved to have seen that team run through a playoff.
The ‘95 Nebraska team was better.Nebraska was damn good, but they were just waiting to give Uncle Tom his first title.
Couldn’t get in.Say what you will, guy is one of the greatest ever and we would have loved to have had him.
Maybe, but that was the problem, all about opinion back then, wasn't settled on the field. The ‘95 Nebraska team was better.
