B10 vs. B12 schools records for playoff/NY 6 bowl games.

The BIG 12 has a big issue. The media is promoting B10 squads for the playoffs and NY6 games ahead of the BIG 12. But do the actual results of the teams from the two conferences reflect what the media is doing?

You basically have 2 B12 schools and 2 B10 sqads in position to either reach a playoff game or a Ny6 game or both.

B12:

playoff committee ranked currently:

OK State 22
Texas 20
OU 11
ISU 7

OU has played 9 games, playing 10 by Sat. played all ranked teams from conference. Beat OK state 41-13, beat Texas 53-45, Lost to ISU 37-30, will replay

Record: 7-2 likey 8-2 going into CCG (@WVU this week)

ISU has played 10 games – Including all ranked teams. Beat Texas 23-20, beat OU 37-30, lost to OK St 24-21, will replay OU

Record: 8-2 going into CCG

B10:

playoff committee ranked teams current:

Iowa 16
NWestern 14
IU 12
OSU 4

IN has played 7 total games. Played only Ohio State amongst ranked B10 teams. Lost 42-35

Record: 6-1

OSU has played 5 total games. Played only IU amongst ranked B10 teams. Won 42-35. Will play ranked Nwestern in CCG

Record: 5-0

Even with 2 losses, the B12 teams have played MORE games than B10 teams.
3 more than Indiana and 5 more than Ohio State.

ISU has MORE WINS than Indiana or tOSU
OU currently has SAME # wins as Indiana and MORE WINS than Ohio State, with likely another coming this weekend at WVU barring a season high performance from WVU for a win.

BIG 12 schools also played an OOC game, which B10 teams did not, and played more conference games.

For the committee and/or media pushing and guiding the committee to just automatically award B10 schools the playoff berth and NY6 games over B12 schools is basically theft at this point based on actual records.

Don't give Sagarin a ton of legitimacy, but a quick look there of conference strength at present shows:

B12 #2 ( and really #1 because he ranks the SEC west as a CONFERENCE when its actually only HALF a conference)

B10 East is #4 and B10 West (again its not really SEPARATE but the SAME conference!) B10 West is #6

The B12 has a case and needs to press it instead of simply accepting being relegated down the totem pole.

ISU and OU also have 2 losses with one being an embarrassing loss to SUN BELT team at home and OU embarrassing loss to a KSU team.

Big 12 is not making playoffs. Quit bitching about the politics of CFP.

Every team outside Ohio State has losses. But BIG 12 squads still have more games agains ranked teams, more wins against ranked teams and more wins period.

Should one game at the beginning of a covid season supercede an entire body of work of two teams? Thats not what everyone was told would be the criteria.

Ohio State is basically ranked where they are because they were picked there before playing 1 down.

INdiana is ranked where they are because they only lost by 1 td to Ohio State. But its doubtful Indiana would be favored to beat either BIG 12 squad should they play, and Ohio States wins are largely against very bad teams like PSU and Michigan And MSU.

Both BIG12 schools will play in a CCG against a ranked team-- their fourth, while Indiana will not play in a CCG period and wont face another ranked team after facing only 1 all season. What qualifies Indiana for a NY6 bowl over either ISU or OU?

Winner of Big 12 CCG will be going to NY6. The other one will have 3 losses and attend the Alamo Bowl vs #2 PAC team. There is no playoff embarrassing loss for the Big 12 this year.

The battle for the final at-large spot for a New Year’s Six game looks like it’s coming down to Indiana and the loser of the Big 12 championship game between Iowa State and Oklahoma.

If OU wins then their Name Brand is better than Indiana in football. If ISU loses it's 3 losses. Neither Indiana or ISU is really considered a name brand school. Indiana probably makes it because CFP doesn't want to piss off Big 10. This is the same way they choose the top 4. It's not about best teams it's about name brand. Big 10 just proved it.

If OU loses they will go to Alamo Bowl vs Pac 12 #2.

There is no guarantee Ohio State stays in top 4. Lot depends on the ND vs Clemson and the Alabama vs Florida.

Liberty Bowl

West Virginia vs. Tennessee

Another stupid argument.

Highest rank Big 12 team isn't anywhere close to the playoffs.

If anyone has a gripe it is USC. They are undefeated and aren't even in the Top 10

USC should play Ohio State next weekend
Let's cut all the ******** out. Both conferences didn't play a complete schedule
Both of those teams are undefeated

its nothing short of moronic to declare something as stupid, but present 0 evidence to support your bogus made up claim.

BIG 12 schools might be lossless as well had they played only 5 games. If BIG 12 schools are penalized for playing AND winning more games then WTF is the point of considering a schools record and achievements. You are counting their losses but NOT their wins? Thats NOT their full body of work.

only in this fed up wrong is right, a win is not a win, make up reality environment some are trying to push does this work.

Just another year of some conferences/teams crying foul.

Expand the playoffs to include all conference champions, and 6 at large bids, to make it a 16 team playoff. Otherwise, you'll always have a team like UCF claiming to be national champs, despite not getting a sniff of the 4 team playoffs. This year, you'll have this group crying: Bucky, Cincinnati, Coastal, USC, maybe Iowa State (but Bucky is crying on their behalf). Fix the damn problem, and make everybody happy. It's not that damn difficult. That, or nuke the current setup, and go to (4) 20 team conferences, and take the four conference champs. Get rid of all the G5 teams. Makes no sense having 64 or so teams that don't even have a shot to win a title before the season even kicks off. Get this done Bucky, so we can avoid your annual post.

The next move inconference expansion is Big 12 disappears. P5 disappears. New college system formed dropping some light weights. The number cut 48 for conferences. Hell they might even cut it to 32. This new group will never play FCS teams again but will play those left out of the upper level. All this will begin when players start getting paid. It's coming soon. Minor League football.

No two loss team has ever been invited to the CFP, and this trend won't be broken this season, with each team playing fewer games than usual.

Covid makes for an odd year. No 5 win team has ever been in consideration of a playoff berth either. You cant ignore one trend but follow another.

You're comparing apples to oranges, Bucknutz. No undefeated Power 5 conference champion has been left out of the CFP, either. We could do this all day, but not even the Buckeye haters in the media are advocating for a two-loss team to be invited instead of Ohio State. You're on an island all by yourself, spewing gibberish to hermit crabs.

Could be...

That is where USC has a big time argument.

Ohio State isn't taking a spot from the Big 12 as of right now in the CFP.

If USC finishes 6-0 there is an argument considering Ohio State's resume isn't any better than USCs.

TrollVanZandt be trolling more than ever these days. Your "resume" reveals that you're a Marshall reject, and USC's resume doesn't include a win over a ranked team, but does contain the impressive squeaker over 0-4 Arizona! Good Gawd, go to troll school, and up your game.

Point still stands.

Not here to argue if Ohio State or USC deserves a playoff spot. Not on either of us to decide

Point is if USC finishes 6-0.

They will be an undefeated conference champion left out

They can place blame right on the doorstep of the PAC 12 conference...

It is impossible to reconcile your last two posts, TVZ. You first argued that Ohio State's resume isn't any better than USC's, then posted that you weren't here to argue whether either deserved a playoff spot. Your argument is wrong, as Ohio State's resume features a Top 10 win, and would feature a second Top 25 win, if the Buckeyes were to win in nine days, whereas USC has beaten no ranked teams, isn't even scheduled to play a ranked team, and has two close wins, including a miracle, over mediocre Arizona schools.

Do you get it...

I don't care who they pick.

Better if they pick Ohio State because it puts even more leverage on USC and PAC 12.

But at the end of the day it is all about perception
Perception is putting Ohio State and leaving USC out

Who knows if Indiana is better than Utah or even Arizona State

The media loves the Luckeyes, which is why they selected them for the playoffs before even a down was played, and everyone moves mountains to get them in.

Stop pretending they have some media disadvantage, no team has been more coddled in the playoff era than Ohio State.

If you take OU's last five games they have the same record as Ohio State. That should matter to the committee. If the committee will consider ALL of OU's games their resume is much greater than the Luckeyes is. No getting around that. ISU also has a better resume.

You don't know anything about the CFP, Bucky, and that's why you're desperately trying to make a case for a two-loss team that lost a game to an incredibly unathletic Kansas State team, which couldn't even beat a 4-7 Sun Belt Conference school. Ohio State wasn't invited to the CFP when it had two losses, or even one season when it had only one loss, and won the B1G. Instead of throwing a tantrum about an undefeated B1G school, you should be concerned about the one-loss SEC teams that would be invited to the CFP instead of chOkelahoma, if tOSU were to lose next week. O.U. isn't even on the CFP Committee's radar.

tOSU-- loses at home by double digits to unranked VT--plays maybe 1 ranked team-- but not as well as a BIG 12 squad did same season, beats an overinflated Wisconsin magically in B10 title game whose coach mysteriously leaves the following week unbeknownst to the Wisky AD pumping up tOSU over BIG 12 squads with better records. And voila! Committee takes tOSU! Disregarding their earlier double digit home loss and lesser schedule.

Or how about PSU beats Luckeyes, wins division, wins CCG, wins conference, but voila! TOSU selected for playoff.

There are more examples, but people not playing games or that arent programmed bots on message boards stumping for the luckeyes already know this.

Definition of CODDLED. No one, not even the domers has been more ( although ND is right up there as espn tries to get them to permanently join the acc so they can give them more money).

You have no case. TOSU is pushed for the playoff every year deserving or not, and has been placed into the playoff twice when they didnt deserve a spot.

Yearly push and a five win, one game against a ranked opponent and most other opponents like PSU so down its laughable has no place sniffing the playoff.

But everyone knows they will if the media and powers that be get their way.

Look this is very simple. CFP is decided by a committee. This committee is put together to decide what best teams are eligible for the college football playoff.

ESPN tells us that college football is not good unless Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame etc.... are good.

Conference wins and conference championships, SOS’s do not matter year to year. What matters is if any of the blue bloods are close then the perception of why they should be in a playoff will change. For example, Kirk said last year with a Ohio State team to have twolosses, “it didn’t matter about the losses because they want to pick the best teams.”

This year we can’t hold it against Ohio State and they should get to play in their conference championship because this year it’s important. That’s why we had a rule change.

The ACC opted to cancel two games to ensure Clemson and Notre Dame would see each other in a national championship playoff. ACC essentially giving everything to Notre Dame, understands that The conference championship game is important for Clemson but not Notre Dame.

You see, the ACC is absolutely wretched with the exception of Clemson. It isn’t Notre Dame’s fault that they played bad conference teams, that’s why they are insured to be in the national championship playoff. They beat a handicapped team. Now they get to face that team again which will more than likely blow them out, but Notre Dame will not fall out of the top four because Clemson is really good.

so essentially it’s a fluid situation.

Next year will be decided on something totally different such as how many Heisman candidates have they had over the past 20 years, what’s their GPA look like in basket weaving, who has the better uniforms etc....

If you don’t like it, you just need to learn to love it. West Virginia University, Boise State, etc. is what caused this. ESPN has a complete stranglehold on television contracts and they want to promote the playoff with the teams that they want in the playoff. BCS upsets, again played by conference champions, had “low” ratings and turnouts. Computers, AP and Coaches are not as easy to manipulate. A unbiased committee is the absolute way to go. No way that you can influence any of those members.

Again, Ohio State was given the easiest schedule all year in their own conference, but we cannot hold that against them. They only played five games, can’t hold that against them, the conference isn’t good, can’t hold that against them.

Cincinnati, well you just don’t play in a good conference, you don’t have any quality wins, you’re not in a good conference, it’s not a power five conference, you don’t play anybody, UCF beat Auburn’s *** from your conference in the past but they didn’t want to play in their bowl game, low ratings, we don’t want you in the playoffs. Just because your conference has made noise in the past, does it mean there any good this year. However the big 10 has had a lot of success back in the day, so it counts this year.

It’s not your fault that BIG conference did not want to play this year, until everyone else was playing, but did not want to expose the teams for that long and out then under that stress. Then decided to play, but without opens in case something happened. They made a rash decision, then flipped their decision, provided a cupcake schedule, and got their team in.

When the next realignment happens in approximately three years, conference champions will be considered with at large opportunities. You are not allowed to have a really, really good year and get in the playoffs unless you have done something in the 40s, 50s, 60s, or considered historically good.

fun stuff

A factual look at the records of opponents (which the committee claimed they consider many times in past)

Ohio State's opponent's records:

Nebraska--(2-5)
@ PSU--(3-5)
Rutgers--(3-5)
Indiana--(7-1)
@Michigan State--(2-5)

ONE school with a winning record.

Meanwhile, here's Oklahoma's opponent's records:

MO State (fcs)--(0-3)
Kansas State--(4-6)
Iowa State--(8-2)
Texas--(6-3)
TCU--(5-4)
Texas Tech--(3-6)
Kansas--(0-9)
Ok State--(7-3)
Baylor--(2-7)

FOUR schools with winning records. SEVEN schools with same (1) or more (6) wins than everyone outside Indiana on tOSU's schedule.

And here's Iowa State's opponent's records:

Louisiana--(9-1)
TCU--(5-4)
Oklahoma--(7-2)
Texas Tech--(3-6)
Ok State--(7-3)
Kansas--(0-9)
Baylor--(2-7)
Kansas State--(4-6)
Texas--(6-3)
West Virginia--(5-4)

SEVEN schools with winning records. EIGHT schools with same (1) or more (7) wins than everyone outside Indiana on tOSU's schedule
THREE schools with the same (2) or better (1) records as Indiana on tOSU's schedule.

But who passes the visual test? Yes of course I was being cheeky earlier, but seriously who passes the visual test?

It’s so abundantly obvious the CFP is a joke.
