its at Georgia tech. Meh.

It'll be a big game for former NU great and current GT assistant Tavaras Hardy.

Here are all the matchups, per ESPN:

Northwestern at Georgia Tech
Duke at Indiana
Notre Dame at Michigan State
Miami at Minnesota
Penn State at NC State
Boston College at Nebraska
Michigan at North Carolina
Clemson at Ohio State
Louisville at Purdue
Florida State at Rutgers
Maryland at Syracuse
Wisconsin at Virginia
Iowa at Virginia Tech
Illinois at Wake Forest

Lost in the finals of the NIT in Pastner's first season. Good coach, tough match-up. Would have preferred Duke but this is a quality opponent.

They had a nice run in the NIT, but were pretty average for the year (and bottom-third in the ACC). Was hoping to get one of the top-six names and get a national opponent / marquee win (given the rest of the schedule), but looks like the committee valued the "name" big-10 teams once again.

Well, they DID beat National Champion UNC and also Notre Dame at McCamish Pavilion, will NOT be an easy game for NU this fall.

Would have rather seen Northwestern at North Carolina and Michigan at Georgia Tech. Better matchups IMO.

While I agree on both (and think it is far from an easy game), I would rather have played a top-25 team. We earned it. GT was a .500 team reg season with a couple of good wins and several bad losses (including PSU).

Kinda similar to Temple last year. A couple of good wins, but a .500 team at core. No one would say they are world beaters.

Give me Duke, Louisville, UNC, Clemson, Syracuse, Virginia, FSU or UND.

FSU - Rutgers seems odd

A disappointing matchup, especially given how many Top 25 polls we're in right now. I think any more than 1 non-conference loss would be a major letdown.
